What would I do if I wasn't lazy?

This is what I now ask myself whenever I've got a quiet moment. WWIDIIWL: what would I do if I wasn't lazy?

See, a personality is a behavioural strategy. It's mental software. If your actions aren't producing the results that you want, you can act as if you were somebody else who has a personality different from yours, and consequently does different things and sees different results.

A problem I've often had is that I'm lazy and unmotivated. It's easy for me to spend hours and hours fucking around, chatting with friends, listening to music, reading articles, watching Japanese television, and otherwise killing time, rather than doing things like homework and piano practice and exercise. If I've got some time to myself, my first instinct is to open up YouTube and watch a stupid video, or check Reddit, or literally stare at the wall. So, whenever I feel this about to happen, I ask myself, What would I do if I wasn't lazy?

And then I do that.

Not always, because my discipline isn't perfect, but more and more. I'm already much more on top of my shit.

There's a trick to it. You become someone who isn't lazy, through method acting.

Edit: Obviously, this is applicable when dealing with problems other than laziness. "What would I do if I wasn't frightened?" "What would I do if I was a morning person?" "What would I do if I was organised?"
