Calling fake on that. Everybody makes at least some effort to cast their side of a story in a sympathetic light. In that story it's like the author is trying as hard as possible to make themself sound a villain.

I have no trouble to believe that she doesn't respect her husband and that she gets a good feeling from make herself seem tough.

Where the belief stretches to the breaking point is that she forgot the wedding anniversary, a date where she gets attention and presents. I haven't seen a woman yet who lets such an occasion pass.

The reaction of the husband to go crying to his bro is also very unusual - at least outside the cuckosphere.

If the story was reversed and she's in reality the man and the husband in reality the wife, the story would be perfectly plausible. That the husband is banging the intern while forgetting his wedding anniversary is standard fare for Hollywood and the Springer-show.That she ends up in company of her friends crying or drunk would also be more likely.

I think this is troll reversing genders of a story that might be true.

In today's marriages it happens. My wife left for another dude and blamed me. She decided to sleep with some guys while I was deployed. I recently foundy youngest daughter isn't mine and she's 12. The fact that they are a long-time lurker, first-time poster isn't in-and-of-itself a flag. We'll come back to why that's a red flag a bit later.

Okay. If you're venting about your affair, this would be the place. Let's see what OP has to vent about...

H presumably starts blowing up OP's phone for a reason unbeknownst to our hero, OP. OP balks. What could my husband who thinks I am at work want, geeze? (let's go ahead and set aside for a moment that this is very likely a place where one would have access to their phone and the presumably the ability to respond.) Nevertheless, we are still in plausible territory here. OP texts him back (oh, so you can answer? Set it aside, I guess) "working late", switches off phone, fucks philanderer. Still not unreasonable.

OP gets home (no time frame mentioned, just 'finally'), and...

It dawned on me that that today was my marriage anniversary, etc...

Alright, here is the moment it derails.

First, which wife do you know- even among the most bitter, jaded, brow-beating shrews, doesn't know her own anniversary? Alright. Why don't we just set that aside and move on for now.

Second, why specify "marriage anniversary"? You're in a sub glorifying adultery. OP said she was a long-time lurker. OP even demonstrates that she knows the lingo. The members of the sub very likely know OP meant your wedding date, and OP ought to know that. The sub definitely doesn't think it was the anniversary of the date OP bought their dog together or first date or whatever. This is a very typical tell of creative writing.

Does it stop there? Let's find out!

OP calls H. H doesn't answer. Uh-oh... I might be caught! What's a cheating OP to do... He's not home? Let's back up a tad. OP relates to us that she's already in a comfortable zone cheating on him and has fully checked out. I mean, the normal human response in that frame of mind would be to enjoy the reprieve after (this assumption derived from the characterization of OP stating "enjoy my time with my lover in peace"). Doubtful that your everyday person would need to rant about that. But alright. We bought that casually forgot your anniversary, and that this was specifically the marriage anniversary (seriously, who talks like this??? Whatever)

Let's get back to the husband not being home, then. OP better get the bottom of this, and fast! He might find out, after all.

Not necessarily a red flag, I suppose. I mean, all of a sudden now OP give two shits about homeboy. It is still plausible, though. She might think she was caught, and this would be a normal reaction, given that assumption is correct. She doesn't directly say it, but one could feasibly read that motivation in. We'll see why that assumption is blown in a sec...

FOUND H ON THE FIRST CALL! WHAT LUCK! And wouldn't you know it? H's BFF tells OP that H is drinking and angry... and all the very things creative writers imagine someone who setup a nice, romantic anniversary would do in response to a no-show. She conveniently leaves out H's BFF's reaction to hear. I guess she didn't need to rant or vent about it. H's best friend's, the person he turned to in his time of need, that guy's reaction to OP must simply be a non-issue. Yeah, because that's a normal human interaction.

Alright, let's continue on through this ~~just awful writing exercise~~ fiasco OP got herself into. What is the smart play here? Earlier, we set aside that OP might realize that she indeed was not yet caught yet, breaking that plausibility. What does a normal person do? Breathe a sign of relief and savor the sweet victory of your success? Nope! Not OP! Better make sure the sub knows that H is my bitch and how I feel about his bitchy bitchiness! I cheated and he cried on his BFF's couch. What a loser, amirite?

Does the ~~story~~ OP's definitely real account of an actual event that happened end here? Of course not!

Knowing that husband might come home any time, what's the next step? Call up the dude you just fucked to come fuck some more, but this time, let's take an even bigger risk of getting caught! After all, H is who she says he is, right? Nothing he can do now.

Let's get back to that red flag from the beginning I brought up.

All and all, this is a victory story for OP. Why did OP start with "I need to rant" and "I need to vent" when this was a clear win for her? Just to rag on H and get some of that sweet, sweet adultery karma? Maybe... if this were a regular poster and not a first-time poster, long-time lurker

It strikes me as wildly against the odds how OP just couldn't help but to vent and rant to a group of people she had yet to interact with, in a story that hits all the buttons of a place she'd been a long-time lurker. This, to say nothing more of how much detail we had to set aside along the way to get to this red flag that happens right of the bat.

I still give her 7/10 for taking in so many of the wise men on this sub.
