I just see this as the female hivemind in action.

Its fashionable and "cool" to be with a black dude. I see it all over, much more than I used to - and yes, its a big urban center I'm talking about, not some bumpkin one-stoplight town.

They are all doing it, because that is the general female consensus that its time to get some black dong. As with any other fad, it will swing back to something else once the hivemind has moved on.
