Recently I have read How to Win Friends and Influence People. I certainly see value in the main objective of this book - to try to put yourself in other person shoes when you deal with him. Actually this (+being a good listener) is something that I used to do instinctively from like forever and I think it is one of the factor in my work achievements. Also, it used to be a cause of many arguments with my wife as I was "defending" other people during her emotional vomits.

Anyway, there are parts of the book (mainly about dealing with other people mistakes and giving orders in indirect way) which I don't support. I can see that they may be usefull occasionally (48 laws of power deals with those situations in much mature way in my opinion). But the overall perspective of not rocking the boat just doesn't suit.

What do you think? Am I missing something?
