I have decided to take a 2-3 month sabbatical between career changes. I'm currently deployed and as you know from my posts (PI update to follow) I have been letting life run me into the ground.

I got fat, became a victim, fail to lead, and my relationships have suffered. I'm down to 225 from 245, I'm leaner eating healthy as I choose it, and working out and loving it.

Main question is how from a standpoint does a Captain taking a sabbatical look? I explained to my wife why I was: focusing on my family, fitness, and career as we moved and I want to create the social network that I didn't make in our last town because I worked dogshit schedules.

I want to spend uninterrupted time getting my new life together and find a career that fits within it. I also spun it as a way to play stay at home dad for a while to "pay her back" for me being deployed for close to a year. I know some people will say otherwise but she is up for that and so am I.

I have enough in the bank that 3 months off won't make a dent to the cash, and I have some real estate deals that I'm going to have to focus on to get them through. But could it cause her hamster to run?
