Investment banking. Been making six figures since graduation and now approaching seven figures, which still feels insane.

Got here by working hard to get into a top college, working hard there to get good grades and hired by my first bank, moved up the ranks via an apparently rare combination of working hard, being reliable and a regular good guy that people/bosses/customers want to hang out with.

I realize I’m very lucky re. the parents I was raised by and who made it possible for me to go this path, largely by kicking my ass to become a hard worker like them but also by lending me the funds to go to a really good college (which I quickly repaid when I started working).

I know many people from less privileged backgrounds and also with very(!) bad starts into life who are in or north of six figures, sometimes as employees or more often eventually self employed. All of them really offer the world the killer combination I mentioned above: reliable problem solving driven largely by hard work and a bit of intellect - while down to earth and great to have around. Not impossible but pushing yourself to give a lot every day.

If you are the best plumber around, you will end up swimming in money. So whatever your starting point is, get after it, hard.

Depending on the state and financial bakings, I can make up to a K/day petitioning on average with 10 hours of hard work. My best being 3.4 grand from a Bernie rally.

Programmer at a leading financial technology company. I will probably never make 6 figures because I'm not in the US. But I could get there by investing over 20-30 years and slowly building wealth.

e-commerce store owner. Got tired of working for incompetent and shitty managers at almost every other job where I was an employee. Have to be very good with money - there's a reason a lot of very wealthy people have odd habits like wearing the same kinds of clothes every day or at least the truly wealthy ones do. Lots of trial and error, work of course but I wouldn't consider it hard work but a lot of boring and long tedious work. Very competitive and there's a lot of different elements to it. The only thing i miss about being an employee was that taxes were so much easier.

Can't beat the flexibility and waking up every day knowing my only bosses are the platforms I sell on and of course my customers. Knowing I can take any off day off that I want. I can sleep in if I want without worrying about whether or not my work will be there. Also massively more control over your income when you're self employed.

Don't ask me too many specifics. People who are truly successful in this space aren't going to tell you a whole lot. We don't want more competition. But I'm happy to answer some questions depending on the question.
