Depends on your goals and your level of willingness to do your homework.

Don't listen to anyone about them who isn't:

A user or former user.
An endocrinologist or other physician who has administered them to a lot of patients or research subjects.

IMO, yes they are worth it.

they will require a substantial amount of time for research initially, but once you know how to use them, you know how to use them.

steroids are not very expensive, especially when you eliminate all other things that aren't necessities from your life (E.G. video games, alcohol, etc.). testosterone is dirt cheap.

people who talk about 'how big they got naturally' aren't actually big, so don't listen to them. the vast majority of people don't work out, so they are impressed by mediocrity.

keep an eye on your blood pressure, and stay away from pain killers, and if you develop sleep apnea (I just got diagnosed), get a CPAP.

it is impossible to attain a physique that is truly impressive naturally.

If you've been training hard for 5 years with decent programming, it might be a worthwhile consideration.

But if you haven't hit that point, you probably want to see how far you can go natty first.

Lots of discussion on steroids over in /r/bodybuilding, including people with before and after shots of their cycles. What /u/trpftw says is largely true, however I think that his natty photo is a bit underwhelming of what can be achieved sans steroids. You just need to google pre steroid era body builders to know what's possible (though obviously hard work and dedication are required.

I have been on for less than a year, and I would say for me, yes, absolutely worth it thus far. That being said, they should be used after finding balance in your diet, rest/sleep schedule, and training program.

Steroids do more then just enhance your physique. They make you more decisive, confidant, assertive, dominant. They increase your sex drive to the point where you will focus all your energy on SMV improvement to maximize sexual options.

The sides I've experienced are some hair thinning (remedied by nioxin) and oily skin / acne. I've also had erection issues, especially when running Deca, but nothing Viagra can't fix.

Me before and me after are too completely different people, and I'd never want to go back.

Lifting is like playing an RPG where the amount of muscle your genetics allow you to put on is the level cap and the amount of rest you need to build muscle is the spell-cooldown.

Taking steroids while lifting is like removing the level cap and the spell-cooldowns. You still have to play the game to increase your level, but you can go further and with less rest than you ever could without steroids. But it's not really worth doing until you get close to the level cap.

Despite what people like GLO says, there's a very real risk of fucking up your body chemistry for life if you're not careful and you don't take the right stuff at the right time.

Roids? Lmao my uncle did that. All he has now is severe back problems. I already lift more than 95% of the male population. I could care less what number I lift as long as I stay in shape. Oh amazingly enough my strength progresses as well. Reppin 225 3 sets of 6 at 140 pounds isn't bad in my opinion. Sure there are stronger guys but I could really care less about them.

Bench press variations + assistance, and a caloric surplus of clean slow digesting carbs and lean protein sources = you can get big. O and time. It is a marathon not a sprint, steroids or not. Yikes

Steroids are there to get that edge. Let's say you're fairly lean and might have a little abs showing when flexing. Steroids will help you get that six pack. Someone with a max bench of 400 will get to 500 with steroids. However, if you've got shit genetics or just simply aren't doing the right things then steroids won't work for you. Consider it carefully. Shits expensive, high maintenance and has side effects. You gotta really want it to get on gear
