It's a subtle difference, but make yourself the source of the validation you're giving, not just confirming what she may or may not already know.

"I like your style." rather than "You have great style."

Edit to add: Like was mentioned in another comment, confirming her attribute comes from below. But, expressing your judgement of the attribute comes from above.

Introduce yourself, ask her name, suggest a drink or a bite to eat, ask where she is going, tell her where you are going and invite her along.

at 6'4 maybe girls really are intimidated by you. It's generally the man's job to initiate conversation. you can tell 2 min in if they wish to continue. practice jsut talking to girls.

This is a good skill to have but won't necessarily make women more attracted to you. If it helps you gain confidence in interacting with women then there's no harm in it, but remember that you won't be able to compliment a woman into your bed.

For long-term goals, you essentially want women to drop their guard - to make them vulnerable. Compliments can do this initially but too many comes off as insincere or demonstrates low value. Being confident (smiling, having open posture, head up, eye contact, being engaging, etc.) is the best way to make people comfortable around you. From there you can push-pull, lead the conversation, escalate, and so on.

A good example of using a compliment as an ice breaker was when I was working out next to this cute jewish girl at the gym. I had earlier noticed her come in with a group of women in business suits. We were at the dumbbells and I asked, "So, are you a doctor or a lawyer?" She lit up, was eager to talk about being a new lawyer, and then eventually gave me her number without me asking.

Use them but don't rely on them. Keep up the work.

what did they do for you to deserve your compliment? i'm guessing nothing. validating women without them deserving it is just a bad idea. why not get into conversation with them and disagree with their ideas that you don't agree with while teasing them and being a fun guy to be around. i have a feeling this way will work better for you.

Bad idea. Why validate girls for nothing? It’s futile.

Your confidence is naturally rising as I assume you are digesting the sidebar and relevant books. On top of that I assume you are making serious gains in the gym and dressing well.

Better to take this new-found confidence and open girls for actual conversations and number closes rather than fleeting compliments.

Good looking loser has a program he has written extensively about on his site about approaching and overcoming anxiety. It's really logical and I think it's the real deal though I've never made the commitment to go through with it myself. He's one of my favorite "gurus" though he's gone mostly inactive for awhile. Hair....I'm a woodworker and my compliments go something like this: "I'm a woodworker and I gotta tell ya that your hair looks like Brazilian Rosewood. It's absolutely beautiful and looks like it needs to be on a custom guitar." Their hand immediately goes into to hair twirling model and their eyes sparkle. Seriously. What I don't do is collect a phone number. That's next time we meet. THEY WILL REMEMBER. Walking away after my weird, off handed, wood compliment is a form of long game that I do. Women spend an awful amount of time and treasure on their hair. Just don't touch it...yet. One tool in the day game toolbox.

Compliments are never a good way to start. Just do simple observations instead:

DONT: “You look really good in that scarf”

DO: “That scarf has an interesting pattern- almost looks middle eastern”

9 times out of 10 she’ll start telling the story of where she got it or some other detail about it.. then you can ask why she likes that particular style or if she has an interest in the middle east (or whatever).

This approach gets you into an actual conversation. Your current approach, even though girls will smile and say thanks, is pretty annoying for the 8s/9s because they hear it all day from every thirsty chump on the street.
