You'd be surprised how much of mental illness is malnutrition. Our food is devoid of nutrition and sanitized of any of the beneficial bacteria that allow our bodies to function. Pick up some raw milk and you will notice changes in your psyche and energy levels right away

The quick advice would be to do aerobic... Sweaty excercise.

But seriously, I listened to that and didn't even realize how depressed I was and for how long. It really fixed me up. And it's only about 3+ hours on audio.

Do a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) program (theres a really good free one done by the NHS in England (live life to the full) at llttf dot com) - that shit really works.

Also look at mindfulness - that shit really works too.

I’m 35 and have most of the symptoms you describe. Simply reading about it and understanding its mechanisms help a lot. There’s no big point to talk about it with people who don’t know about it because for example if you say “I’m sleepy all the time” they’ll tell you “well sleep early tonight” and you’ll feel like “dude you’re a genius why couldn’t I think about it myself?”.

Lots of different ways;

meditation (train your mind to be more grateful)
lift / sports (gives you a sense of accomplishment while bettering yourself)
reading non fiction books to give you knowledge
eating healthily
talking to people about it (family or friends)
setting small goals that you meet, can be anything simple
making a routine and sticking to it (wake up early everyday)

I've had a couple bouts of depression; a short and relatively minor one in my early 20s and an extended, soul crushing one for most of my 30s. The short answer is that you need to do everything that your depression makes difficult. You lack energy, but you have to exercise (I cannot overstate the importance of lifting). You don't want to engage people, but you have to socialize. You can't work up a single fuck to give about anything, but you have to find something you care about. You can't focus, but you have to find a way to immerse yourself in something. It's tough, but the only way to reverse a self-sustaining condition is to change the environment in which it thrives. Mental health is no different in that regard.

The best way to go about it is actually not all that different than when you're first building frame, fake it until you make it. Behave as if you've already gotten past this. Go to the gym even if you feel like standing up is a monumental task. Go out and act as if you're having a great time, even if you're miserable. Get out in the sun (this is huge, as vitamin D deficiency is a major contributor to depression). Work in 15 minute intervals and then allow yourself a 5-10 minute break.

I'm sure you've heard all of this before. I did too. I was resistant because I knew I couldn't delude myself into believing that thinking happy thoughts would make all my life problems go away. What I eventually learned is that behavior can cause lasting changes to your mentality just as easily as your mentality affects behavior. By forming good habits and taking care of myself, I started to see slight improvements in my mental state. That allowed me to form even more beneficial habits, and a positive feedback loop developed. Whatever problems you have to deal with will still be there, but you'll be able to deal with them more effectively when you've started improving your mental health.

This is not for everyone, but I also self-medicated. LSD and psilocybin did wonders for me (3-4x a year and always with a purpose), but don't jump into that blindly because for a lot of people it can go the complete other direction.

Go for walks
Lift
Keep a journal

Everything everyone else said here. I take zinc and magnesium supplements, along with A,B,C,D, and E. I can definitely tell if I skip for a few days and start again. I Feel much better taking the vitamins. As for my mindset I stopped taking myself and my life so seriously. I really try to live day to day and in the moment. Plus I am curious about things, and find when I'm learning new stuff I feel better. Dropping all my unrealistic expectations of others in my personal life was a good way to stop getting constantly disappointed. I also had to understand acceptance. Good luck hopefully you'll be able to turn some things around.

Start lifting or at least exercising in general as a first step if you want to avoid a gym like jogging, swimming or cycling. Exercise has to been shown in many studies to actually help more than anti-depressants. Also going into nature helps with depression hence hiking could be added and jogging in woods or mountainbiking instead of road cycling.

And: - fix nutrition - Get some labwork done especially testosterone - Stop smoking weed - Stop fappping to porn several times a day - Go to a professional (eh psychologist, at least try it, can't hurt can it?)

How i handle mines? Well to be honest i had it since i was 12. As i got older i just tell myself, I only get this one life. After that i’m dead and i no longer exist. so why not create my own happiness? Why not do everything in my power to create greatness. You’re gonna have ups and downs, but that’s the beauty in life bro. Keep pushing! the shit really all in yo head! trust me I had to go to doctors because it was getting so bad that i didn’t wanna do nothing but feel sorry for myself!

Have a mission ( a strong mission/goal) Play some kind of sport or do some kind of regular exercise (exercise is very important) Feel as though you are making progress with something DAILY Practice some form of meditation Eat healthily Talk to more people/socialize more A big one for me is to also go out into the countryside and experience the fresh air and open environment, the sense of happiness and peace is unmatched

Do you know the cause of your depression, are there certain things that get you down regularly? If you can find the underlying reason you can begin to work at it

First of all make sure you are sleeping, eating and lifting right, as well as doing productive things (reading, working) and things you enjoy (hobbies). Next you need to fix the way you think. Read books on depression or psychology books, 12 rules for life helped me a lot, you could try cbt, meditate.

I’m not sure what it was like for other people handling depression but for me something clicked and I thought ‘fuck this, I’m going to do something about it’. Maybe one of the things I have mentioned will make it ‘click’ for you or maybe you will have to do these things for months to get slow improvement.

how much are you exercising? even quick 20min workout every other day. mix of aerobic and muscle exercises.

take vitamin D supplement, most people odnt' get enough of it. Do that for 2months and then get your T levels checked.
