Hey guys, recently started taking my red pill journey more seriously than just lurking on the subreddit. Got a very long journey ahead. I’m 5’ 8”, 350 pounds at least, and I’ve been single for about eight years now.

Things are definitely getting better, as I’ve been reading No More Mr. Nice Guy by Robert A. Glover, and started my gym membership this week (doing Stronglifts 5x5 to start).

But my biggest roadblock right now seems to be earning the respect of my peers. I’m still stuck in a lot of my blue pill ways, and the people I talk to at work or in friend circles can practically smell it on me. I live in the south, where a lot of men are just naturally red pilled to some degree, so the brotherly trash talking is a natural part of life here.

I’ve thankfully moved past taking most of it personally, but I have some friends that tend to take what they know about me and use it when I try to join in the back-and-forth. Be it my weight, the fact that I’m a 30 year old virgin, my music taste, the clothing I wear; it’s all on the table.

Now, I get it. There’s a lot to poke at in just that short list, and that’s fine. My problem is with getting over these insecurities so I don’t react so negatively when I hear them, and learning how to punch back. Naturally, a lot of this sensitivity may go away as I lose weight, gain muscle, and increase my overall self-esteem. But until then, I know I’m gonna have to deal with these insults being hurled at me if I try to fire back.

My blue-pilled self still dislikes the idea of attacking people, and potentially hurting their feelings. It’s to the point that I don’t even think about what I could possibly hit someone with if they decide to come at me first. And that’s gotta go.

So my question to you guys is; did any of you deal with this at the beginning of your journey? How did you turn it around and start slinging some shade yourself?
