I've recently quit a job I hated and am starting a new gig in June which will afford me a much better work/life balance. This gives me two months of time to myself that I do not want to waste.

I'm hitting the gym every weekday and really focussing on my nutrition, quit smoking, heavily reduced drinking and spending a lot more time reading - but I don't feel like I'm doing as much as I could to bolster the foundations.

Basically, I'm looking for suggestions from your guys' experience of improvement about good habits/routines/activities to invest my new found time in or any steer in the right direction.

If there's a good selection I'll round up everything at the end and drop an edit in with a 'Start Here'-esque guide for anyone in the same situation.

EDIT:

Thanks everyone for the responses - consensus says:

  • If you can afford it, travel. New experiences, new people, broaden your horizons
  • Good habits - reading, exercise, technical learning etc.
  • Sleep schedule (one I am currently lacking on) 7-8hrs/night
  • Volunteer
  • Use your brain (linked to point 2) /u/TheRedStoic has a good starting few in the comments
  • Meditation
  • Practice the social skills
  • Plan your days so you're not aimlessly trying to figure out what to do on the fly
  • Don't rush, build lasting habits

Thanks for all the advice everyone - I've jumped on my Google Calendar and have my entire next week planned out. Will rinse and repeat next Sunday.
