Bitterness, for the most part. Remember your mother is still a woman and has a weird complex.

It's the crab bucket. People don't like to see you improve because it makes them feel bad.

A common theme when guys improve their lives in a noticeable way is that there is friction with their existing peer groups and communities. It's the mentality "I want the people around me to be more successful, but not more successful than me." It's also called crab bucket mentality, which comes from how crabs in a bucket will constantly be trying to climb over each other resulting in no crabs escaping.

This phenomenon is true even when it doesn't relate to dating and doesn't happen with just women in your life. What is happening is that people are seeing your success and are feeling jealous. They are trying to bring you down so that they feel comfortable again. The excuses they give are just bullshit rationalizations, which I think you've recognized as such. Often they aren't trying to convince you insomuch as they are trying to convince themselves.

Nobody hates that you're improving. They just feel insecure that they're not, and reminded of it when they see your progress.

Not just women, but all people, don't like other people working hard.

When people see you working out, watching your diet, and trying your hardest to accomplish something, that's a lot less magical than some guy who just shows up in town today looking badass, like it's just a natural, inherent part of him. Like he's not even trying and is just innately a badass.

But to people who know you and see you working, you look needy, try-hard, narcissistic, etc. Like you're working hard to get muscles because you're thirsty for attention and validation. Because they know you were a love-starved, attention-starved loser before, and now here you are working out hard, so the assumption is that your hard work is needy behavior.

The best thing you can do is shut the hell up. Don't talk about you workouts or your nutrition in casual conversation. When people offer you cake, just say no thankyou and don't make a big deal about it. When people comment on your workouts or your body, just shrug and act like it's nothing. Just a hobby you do in your spare time. Don't act like you're working hard, don't talk about it.

When a friend tries to shame you or bring it up, same deal. Just shrug, act like it's nothing -- just some hobby you do in your spare time -- and change the subject.

They are just running the feminine imperative. You shouldnt have muscles, you should just "be yourself", aka be the fat loser that you always were, and wait until the "perfect girl who loves you like you are" comes (a post wall fat single mom for you to "save"). Oh, and the fact the this "perfect girl" also fucked half the town doesnt matter as well. What you do? Give zero fucks.

There are many different reasons this could be, but some of the most common are pretty easy to identify.

First off, your mother still believes in the Disney fairytale. Remember, women don't have the capacity to reflect on themselves. Solipsism tells her that because what she wants (right now) is a gentleman, every woman must want a gentleman.

Another important piece of the puzzle is that people don't like to see others improve. It makes them feel self conscious and guilty because you are doing what they won't. Not can't, but won't.

Furthermore, women don't like being "tricked" into thinking you're a natural born alpha. That isn't good for biology.

As a man, your greatest gift is the ability to reflect on, and in turn, improve yourself. Covet that the way 35 year old single women covet cats.

Funny. Had a talk like this today with a plate. Told her I was gonna kick it into overdrive and get backdown to 10% fat, I'm at maybe 14% now. She told me she doesn't want to feel bad about herself because I will look ten times better, she's thin and fit and has a great bod. She also told me that she expected me to find someone that can make me cum and if I'm already got enough to bring girls in. Couldn't get off yesterday cause this pill I took. It stems form our hunter gatherer days where the men spent long periods of time out finding food, and the women were back at the village socially fighting it out for dominance. If a guy starts to move out of his predefined role and up in his value, whichever woman he has may get a social boost through access to better resources, better quality children, or his prestige, which upsets the social order. Women are risk averse, and a fluid social situation creates risk. So you have some that want to shut down that behavior, and some who think they have a shot at you that want to ride on your coat-tails.

You're that guy. Now everyone you know has to increase their game to compete at your level, but they all want to sit for a little while longer, and the change will happen when they're ready (which we all know is never).

Girls now have to try harder to compete for you. Your family which has the same genes, same living situation, same everything, now feel like they're viewed by others as, "but fghjnn did it, he's motivated, whats your excuse?"
