I have a lot of negative feelings about myself. I often times feel like I'm not good enough, that I don't really have anything to offer, that I'm some kind of deviant loser since I've never been in a serious relationship, and so on. To fix this, I've basically learned to suppress these negative thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts. Whenever I see a girl I like and fear that I'm not good enough for her, I force those feelings away and say to myself that I'm actually a nice guy with a lot of good qualities, that there are a lot of girls out there that want me, and so on. This is advice I got from the seduction community.

I haven't been doing this for a very long time, but so far it has helped me a lot. I'm less afraid than I used to be, and a lot more confident. Still, there is something missing. Sometimes I feel that I'm not really being myself and that I know that those positive thoughts I make myself think are not true, deep inside. I seem to remember that someone back in my past said that suppressing feelings is bad, so I did a google search about that. And sure enough, there are studies that claim to show that it is. In one study, two groups of people were told they were not allowed to think about polar bears, and allowed to, respectively. The group that were not allowed to thought about polar bears more often that the other group. Other studies found other problems with suppressing feelings.

Any thoughts about this? Is it okay to suppress negative feelings like I have been doing?
