The same is for job searching, you can only study/read so much. Then you need to take a leap of faith, and you will be surprised by the ways you can fail which you could never have prepared for but now you know only because you started and also from how easy success is sometimes that you feel like preparation was waste of time you should have started way before. But all in all practicing in the field and learning is the fastest way to achieve almost anything.

What is true for you is not also true for everyone else. A better way to say this would be, "For me, I don't know if I'll ever feel ready. So I've decided to stop waiting for some ready feeling, & just forge ahead."

Its also very important to either have a system of consent, "Can I kiss you?" or be able to recognize that you're being invited. It would be very easy to turn this idea into "go for it" & you end up going for it when its not wanted because you're so focused on YOUR need to get past this barrier.
