So for the most part, I do not drink. I have personal reasons (alcoholism runs in my family, but my siblings seem fine). I used to feel really strongly about it, but I'm noticing how big it is in "hookup culture" for lack of a better term, and lately, I've been more tempted to drink.

This is where the conflicted self comes in: part of me wants to try it, but part of that is to help move things along while meeting women (not even because I feel self conscious about not drinking... I don't) however by not drinking, women automatically place me in the "boyfriend material" and not hookup.

I specifically had girls tell me "if only you drank, we can have soooooo much fun tonight." I tell them we can anyway, and you should see how quick anti-slut shields go up.

I really don't know what to do or how to overcome this obstacle. On one hand, I'd almost feel like a giant sellout for drinking as if I'm compromising something, but on the other hand... I can't really say what it is I'm compromising. Advice?

TL;DR Don't drink. Girls immediately place me in BF role when it comes up instead of hookup material, and anti-slut shields fly up since they don't want to drink to lose their inhibitions around me. I'm not judgemental about those who do, and actually love partying. How to handle?
