Hey guys! I have been a long time lurker of these forums and thought I should contribute!

I am writing this post mostly to ask advice about approach tactics at bars. But first, school has started for me (23 y/o male grad student) and I have been hitting the bars since it's only downhill once you leave college. I don't suffer from the overwhelming approach anxiety anymore. I read Mark Manson's "Models" and employed many of his ideas into my own lifestyle. I have been working out for many months now, started latin and ballroom dancing (tons of fun by the way), have had success in school/work, and have been keeping myself looking good/clean. I feel like I'm at my best right now. Confidence isn't flowing out of me, but it's definitely there. For context, I would like to think I'm attractive, 7.5 or so.

Anyway, I have been approaching over the past week and a half with little success. I stole the line from Mark Manson's book "Hey this is random, but I thought you were cute and wanted to meet you." I don't get shut down always, but most of the time they don't seem interested or say they have a boyfriend. I have pulled about 3 girls out of 12, all of whom I wasn't interested in once the lights came on so I feel like it was me looking for affirmation and being a chump. I should clarify that these are cold approaches and have not made any eye contact or small talk beforehand. My first thought is that this can come across as creepy, thoughts?

Most girls are with groups of girl or guy friends and even know most of the people at the bar. Being a grad student, almost everyone I knew is gone!! I feel like this makes it slightly more difficult to approach. I think I need to be convinced otherwise.

I know that it's not supposed to matter what you say, but rather how you say it. Maybe I'm not showing confidence, but I know that I'm not behaving overly anxious/needy when I approach. Also, my goal in all of this is to find a girl I'm genuinely interested in, not just hooking up.

Any advice is appreciated!
