I texted a girl using the direct method this afternoon and didn't receive a response. ("We're studying at Starbucks tonight 7pm") So I just acted like it was something I was going to be doing anyway- in this case it's studying at Starbucks for a test we both have tomorrow. So the context is actually quite casual as we've known of each other in our majors for over a year now.

I didn't want to ask if she was going to be there since that would signal importance that she's there- instead I said I was running a little behind which keeps it on me doing my thing and should signal I'm not busting my ass just to see her.

Does seddit know a better way to confirm a yes or a no when she doesn't answer immediately or a way to nail her down in the half hour before or was that adequate?

So as the title suggests her response to my "I'm going to be 10 min late" text was "Actually I can't make it." I'm actually stumped on that one. I know on a flake you text later saying you had a good time or blah blah whatever without her- but here it's in the moment. Maybe say nothing at all?

I'm all ears guys (and girls) and I hope I'm not overgaming it! I'm not as alpha as I'd like to be at this stage but I'm putting myself out there regardless.

EDIT: The question remains though. How do you respond to being turned down??

Gloss over it and start building attraction from scratch?
