I have an autism spectrum disorder (Aspergers as most call it). I started out with difficulties talking to others, but I've been learning how to talk to both men and women better using some of the advice on this reddit (I learned a lot on how other people look at things). So thank you.

The next big project for me is eye contact. I never look at people in the eyes. I look at their mouth talking usually. I have started looking people in the eyes, but when I do I don't know when to start looking in someone's eyes or when to stop. A couple of girls seemed to like what I was doing, but I didn't really know why or what to do again.

Can someone explain eye contact to me please? Just some basic rules will do for now on what I'm going for by doing so, when to start looking at someone, for how long, and when to stop.

Edit. If I'm walking down the street and walk past someone, should I try to make eye contact even if they don't? Should I keep looking forward and ignore them?
