It should be noted the term DQ has double use in community, and we should probably have better terminology (I don't know off hand).

You DQ yourself as a suitor, meaning you are "harmless" and not looking for sex.
You DQ yourself from a relationship, while actively telling her you are going to sleep with her, to bring down her LMR and avoid her thinking sex is leading to a relationship.

Both are useful and can even be used on same girl, same night.

It's supposed to make her feel comfortable around you, so that you can proceed with whatever you want to do.

The disqualification is supposed to make her believe that you are "harmless", that you're not seeking to sleep with her.

It's also to get her chasing you:

"You're a hairdresser? I swore off dating hairdressers long ago."

"Wait, how old are you? You're way too young for me. I like mature girls."

My personal favorite, after she's come home with me:

"I never have sex on the first date, so don't get any ideas."
