I've noticed that there are a lot of concepts in this community that, when articulated in posts, seem to get a large positive reception. Then, the exact opposite of that concept is articulated, and is just as well received.
An example of this would be day-game.
On one hand, we have people marking up a number as a success. On the other, we have people saying that numbers are meaningless, and that you should go for an insta-date.
Insta-dates have their own host of cognitive dissonance associated with them, though.
On one hand, the entire premise of day-game is that you should just be going about your busy, productive, full life, and just so happen to talk to people/women you're interested in along the way. Let's be real for a second here, though. If you have great inner game, a full life, and you're just grabbing your morning coffee before you head into the office, you have no time for an insta-date. In fact, the only time I could even imagine an insta-date being an option would be if you had specifically set aside time in your day to go meet women, knowing that you have plenty of time to just drop everything and go spend 1 hour to all day/night with a girl. Unless you're out seeing a movie with your buddies on a Sunday and bail on them (not cool, homie). This is not the behavior of a man who has shit to do, and goes directly contrary to the notion of simply interacting with the people who cross your path in your life.
Many people say the grocery store is a great place to practice day-game. I might be naive or inexperienced, but parleying an insta-date at Publix at 8:30 PM on a Tuesday seems pretty unlikely.
A lot of this dissonance goes unidentified by the community, and I think it would be great to point it out and spark some productive conversation on it, potentially yielding a great benefit for the entire community.
Believe me, as a newbie, it can be very difficult to see the difference between total bullshit and tried and true theory.
