Wait, did you not make any convo before asking her out?

Yeah it's understandable for her to give you that reaction, because she has no idea who you are like you didn't even make convo or talk to her for a days. Next time make conversation and text her then ask for a date.
[–]EarthWarping 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
The mindset should be you should want to get to know her better before asking her out.
[–][deleted] 37 points38 points39 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
This is kind of weird and hard to do if you are not just a 10/10. Most of us are not so it is quite hard. My advice would be to start with a casual opener such as "You do not look from here." Or "Youre cute for name of uni girl" and see where it leads from there. Then few minutes in you could ask to see her again or grab her number or instagram. Respect your courage tho!

With that you could have said something “bantery” like: “well I don’t know you either, so how about we get to know each other? Over dinner some time?” Or: “then get to know me at our date.”
Would’ve been pretty ballsy responses which could have impressed her, but it depends on the girl. Some like that cockiness, but some think you just took it to far and they’ll feel put off.

Well, we learn through trial and error! Next time you find yourself in a similar situation, go for it and see what happens! :)
Big respect for your courage, tho!

Its not a one in a million chance if you dont want to be. You learned today. Keep it up. If she is not attracted then to hell with it. Life is more than some girl.

Dont overthink it. Move on

That's not cold approach. That's cold asking a girl out. Cold approach would involve talking to her before asking for her number / date.

It was wise to stop it there
[–]yurifca 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
You were too direct, you gotta build some trust between you both to ask her out by talking to her and being friendly/interested.
Think of it as if someone you never met asked YOU to go out so directly, it would be kinda awkward or weird, amirite?
Take this as a lesson to not be so direct, maybe get to chat a little bit more next time.
[–]lerossignol77 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
In his defense direct is better because he got a “I don’t know you.” Guess what, this means that she’s evaluating his interest. He took it as a rejection which is a beginner’s mindset. An advanced person would take it as a positive because it is true and it is a statement that can be changed. She opened the door wide open and HE closed it. Not her. Girls don’t care as long as you are consistent with the messages you’re sending. Allan Roger Currie says, if she’s standing where you met her she’s interested. What she says is less important than what she does. Just get your game up
[–]yurifca 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I agree that being direct works sometimes, but you need to be very handsome/confident to deal with the initial response from the girl, like in OP's example. Either way, being good at small talk and leading the dialogue is a massive tool to get numbers, so you kinda need to work on those skills too, imo
[–]lerossignol77 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Just get this, direct is always better. What you could or could have done different is for later. But you need to understand how women communicate. They do so indirectly but they can be convinced. Your interaction wasn’t convincing to her because you gave up too quickly. If she wasn’t interested at all it would be a “no thanks.” Even a “not interested” can be turned around with a question like “not interested in what?” And you flip the script. She’s making assumptions when you don’t know if you’re gonna like her or if she’s gonna like you. The point is prepare better and understand that women are rather straightforward. Learn how to beat their objections. Create those scenarios ahead of time.
Don’t look for overt positives. Assume everything is positive and if she’s even a little bit interested she will follow your lead. Guys speak overtly. Girls don’t. She wants you to take the lead

Do what you feel is right. I generally don't trust videos and culture/location makes a big difference. In my country you won't have succes by being that direct, especially since I'm from an ethnic minority.
Girls wanna feel safe/cool with you first before doing anything. Have some small talk first and accept rejection appropriately.

I don't mean to sound like a dick but dude, what did you expect? It was a terrible way to ask someone out.

You did nothing

[–]spenrose22 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
True, and that’s about it. It’s not nothing but pretty close to it.
[–]spenrose22 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Cool. You also did nothing to make her want you besides being bold, but that’s not going to be enough. It wasn’t creepy but it was a bit weird.
You’re taking these PUA tactics on their face, they’re more guidelines that you learn to use differently in different situations.
[–]spenrose22 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You should try to remove or at least lower expectations. They can only disappoint. Girls aren’t going to just make it easy for you, especially attractive ones.

Man, these are some brutal comments. Don't worry man, you did the hardest part and that's talking and asking a girl out you don't know. Keep at it and keep reflecting on your mistakes, it's normal to have some pretty off moments.
[–]le_GoogleFit 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I mean there's "direct" and "direct". This was way too strong and had very little chance of actually working.
A more proper direct approach would have been: "I don't have much time blablabla but I thought you looked cute and wanted to talk to you". Then you exchange some banalities for like 1~2 mins and ask for her contact to continue the conversation.
Straight up asking for a date like that is not direct, it just doesn't make sense.
[–]theconcentrated 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You didn’t have to be mr. nice “i don’t want to take your time” and “i am a geography student” Well nobody asked about your course. “I don’t know you” is a sane reply “Well that’s the whole point of a date” Don’t expect the girl to be wet for you like a whore to say “okay, lets go on a date” for the first words that came out her mouth. Don’t be completely out of your mind and don’t try to rub niceness on her back.
[–]intelectualycurious 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
kudos for taking action. most guys would have let that opportunity slip by. but it sounds like the only ‘regrettable’ thing that occurred was not setting up any sort of context for a date. it sounded like you just saw the girl and asked if she wanted to hang. maybe the interaction would have panned out differently if you took a more indirect approach.
[–]manonpoint_com 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Never just go up to a random girl and ask her on a date after introducing yourself. That is a horrible strategy that pretty much never works.

Genuine question: are you autistic?
[–]ABZOLUTEZER0x_x 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Try to have an actual conversation, even if it's just for a few seconds. The more she talks to you the more comfortable she'll feel. If you try to go straight for the kill you're just gonna look like a creep
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Weirdest approach I have seen in my entire life.
[–]OldSoulBiz 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You want to avoid saying "I don't want to take up much of your time". It makes it seem like you're already demanding stuff from her.
Avoid that kind of line in any situation when you're opening a conversation. When closing a conversation, say something like "Thank you for your time."

Hahaha did you just leave when she said “i dont know you”? haha thats so dumb bro
