Usually when you start dating someone you would generally escalate things physically until you get to sex.
Depending on age . If your older than a teenager 2nd or 3rd date is fairly common.

You have to make up your mind about it. The thinking was that if she fools around with you fast then you can't trust her in a marriage because she will fool around with somebody else too, fast.
Everyone has different opinions about it, but from my experience when you get something that is of high value and not easily accessible to anyone you will treasure it more.

From my point of view a normal courting process should be like: Kissing first date, kissing and petting 2nd date and from 3rd to 10th should sex happen. don't get me wrong, there's a time and a place for one night stands too and sex on the first date but if i want a gf i don't want her to give it up too fast. I know it's old school thinking in a way but it's just my preference, doesn't need to be yours. Probably there are very loyal girls out there that had sex the first date but i'm gonna need a study to see that because i don't really think it's the norm.
From my n=1 life, my long term gf had sex with me after 2 months of dating and i always trusted her no matter what and we had a beautiful relationship.
One of my closest friends that is a girl, likes to fuck on the first date and went the once you go black route, and with the guy she is dating after 2 weeks at a party where he didn't come she kissed a girl there and said she was really attracted to her. I told her that's cheating and she brushed it off, later having the same convo with her bf and he told her ( that in a hypothetical situation like that ) he would consider it cheating too.
My point being that people that have sex at the first date are high on the openness trait and love to have a lot of experiences and sometimes now even consider some stuff cheating.

I guess if you hook up quickly, it is just more likely that it would end up being one night stand or friends with benefits. Most of the time quick escalation just means that you have really good chemistry, emotions and comfort are strong and it is only natural to give in to biology.
