It’s tough. When you’re actually into a girl you say or do things that you think would avoid scaring them off when in reality girls can sense these things and notice you’re not being yourself. It comes across as needy or too friendly. I don’t really have a solution as I’ve only recently discovered I do the same thing. But personally I’m trying to get into the mindset of just being myself and if they’re not interested, no matter how much I like them, then that’s ok cause it never would’ve worked out anyways.

See the bigger picture. You may have ruined it for now but she’ll forget the ick in a couple weeks or months. In the meantime you’ll be trying again with someone else, which reduces your overall neediness. A lot of these girls you pushed away by being too sweet will come back and turn into orbiters. Etc. Just keep at it, I know it’s embarrassing blowing an opportunity but there will be more and truthfully you planted a seed that could bear fruit eventually.

To get a girlfriend the girl must not feel like you want it before she has made it clear to you that she wants a relationship with you.

The relationship has to be her idea she is the one who has to ask you to be together first. She is the first one who has to convince you to have something serious. And you must not easily give in to her, she must earn it.

So you cannot be clingy, you cannot act like you want to be her boyfriend. you need to focus on just having sex without commitments or labels, or promises first and then she will be the one who asks you “what are we” after you have slept with her enough times.

your goal should be to have casual sex with her until she asks for more.
