A girl likes you, likely because you're confident and have your shit together. But she wants to know if it's the real deal. So she suddenly talks shit to see how you'd react. I've had this happen so often, I'm certain it's involuntarily and hard wired into the female brain.
The best reaction is to maintain your cool. If you react negatively, you've failed her shit test and she knows your confidence was just a show all along.

In simplest terms: it’s a way that women test you to see how much control they have over your emotions. They even do this subconsciously at times. Women want someone who is strong within their frame, confident, and can thrive without them. Just like anything else they need reassurances to make sure your not a beta bitch boy whose life would be reduced to nothing if she were to leave!

Generally weeds out people pleasers and chameleons. Sometimes it’s about if you can stand on your own feet emotionally sometimes they want to see if you’re a puss. Often its not REALLY the answer but HOW you react to the questions that are more telling
