To make this question a bit more concrete and not so abstract that we might talk past each other, let's say there is some thing that you see others do and are successful with, but it doesn't feel natural to you. It feels like you would not be true to yourself if you were to do that. Do you think you should make yourself do it or would it be wrong and not being true to yourself?

And to ask a similar question in a more general way, when you are developing your game, do you think it is ever necessary and right to do something that doesn't feel natural or doesn't feel true to you or would it be wrong to do anything that does not feel true to yourself?

If there are any examples from your own path in developing game that relate to this question, I'd be very interested in hearing them.

(EDIT: I'll add a little amendment, because a lot of people are interpreting the post as talking about doing things that you deem immoral or wrong, but that's not what I mean. I mean just things like, say, being a bad boy, or escalating physically, or negging, or being very flirty or something like that, or some entirely different part of game, but I don't mean morally questionable things. Just some action or behavior (that has no moral implications) that just doesn't come to you naturally or doesn't feel natural.)
