The scale is usually based on conventional physical attractiveness.

It's super subjective and only useful when speaking in relative conceptual terms. Saying a specific person is a 10 means nothing since I might think of them as a 6 or so and vice versa. But if I mention "a 8" generically, then it's useful in the sense that people get an idea by their own internal measurements without splitting hairs about specifics.

It's the same internal representation at play if some one says "imagine a chair". Different people will get a different mental image, but end of the day everyone will have their own idea of the "default chair" in their mind.

In general though, I'm not a fan of labeling people by an arbitrary number. I find them attractive or not to various degrees. Trying to quantify it only complicates things unnecessarily.

4) Women that I would fuck just in a ONS

5) Women that I would fuck but I had to be drunk

6) Women that I would fuck but only if my friends didn't know

7) Women that I would fuck but only if my friends didn't know and I had to be drunk

8) Women that I would fuck if I had been in 5-year dry spell

9) Women that I would fuck only if they paid me

10) Unfuckable

The best and most practical scale is 0-30

0-10: ugly 11-20: average to cute 21-30: gorgeous

It definitely exists but it's entirely relative to the person making the rate. The point of 1 to 10 is to demonstrate how attractive ot not you personally find someone to be so a 5 is indifferent, 4 is unattractive 6 is attractive and so on.

Like there are alot of girls I'm attracted to but I would be in a relationship with someone less than a 7.

Also attractiveness isn't just based on looks making it even more opinion based.

This is why looks kind of don't matter too much and why you see guys that have traditionally great looks getting no girls because they're just unattractive without the game to go with it.

I would argue that the 1-10 scale does exist, because if you mention it - pretty much everyone knows what you mean.

I don't understand how or why you think people measuring things differently is an issue. Like most estimates it gives a BALLPARK figure. Similar systems are in use for measuring pain, success, good, evil, faith, talent, long, short, hard, easy, tasty, etc. We could easily argue all of these mean nothing or accept this is a person's ballpark measurement and compare it to our own model of the world. Sometimes when a friend recommends a movie, you learn to trust or not to trust their taste on movies.

Attractiveness is a subjective measurement, so when YOU say someone is an 8, I can assume there's a number of qualities that put them above average. If I say someone is a 2, you probably have a quick ballpark of where they sit on attractiveness.

Also remember, being attractive does NOT correlate to being a successful partner.
