I would say that the tips here work for women too. It really boils down to being proactive; a lot (most?) of women are really passive about dating. If the kind of guys you're interested in aren't asking you out, maybe you should start hanging out (and flirting) with those kinds of guys. I can't really give you advice on clothes and make-up, but learning that stuff helps a lot. Also, losing weight makes even the ugliest person look at least average.

I can't really add anything constructive but I have to say the answers on this thread really disappoint me. Come on guys, put some effort into this, analyse the times when a woman has come to pick YOU up and figure out what she did right.

For me, the only time this has happened, the girl made light flirtatious physical contact. I responded in kind, she escalated and started dropping in hints into her conversation like, "why don't we go to the bar near my place". From there, had a few drinks and as soon as we left I just let her take me to her place.

You'd think being super-forward would always work for women, until the first time it happened to me. There still has to be some tiny bit of finesse. A girl told me about two minutes into a platonic conversation on my way to a concert said that she wanted to suck my dick. It wasn't that she was ugly or anything, she was actually pretty cute. I assumed she was coked up or something or had some sort of mental disorder. If she had been just a tiny bit more socially aware or segwayed into sexual stuff before, it would have been awesome. However, it was just really creepy, and then she started following me and my friends.

That should about cover it. I'm not trying to be rude, but there is literally no challenge to meeting men as a woman.
