I appreciate the feedback. Thanks

Also I think it would be better to just demand the number. Say 'I should get your number' instead of 'can I get your number? '

I agree. That sounds a lot better.

Instead of hand holding, just a bit of guidance with a hand on the back, or small of back if you're feeling cocky. Hand holding is a lot more "romantic", while back is more "sexy."

a good one is to say "arent you going to introduce me to your friend? thats the polite thing to do."
[–]omziraal 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah, what I'd say is "So am I just going to stand around here or are you going to introduce me?" in a playful tone, otherwise it could seem pretty dickish.

Yeah, I doubt she wants a lesson on manners from this random guy she just met. I would have just introduced myself to her friend, why doesn't anyone else find it odd he didn't do it himself since they weren't going to?

I'd say a 10/10 for the opener. Other than that I can't offer much advice of my own, but I probably would have gone like "Yo, I'm Beli_mawrr, and I'm better at pinball than her" or something lame like that. If they continued to ignore me I would have said "Well, I've got to find my friends, so maybe our tour can happen later". I'm not a huge fan of taking shit.

I recently heard some good advice that might help. The idea is to say to yourself "gun to my head, what's the right thing to do?" And the very first thing you think of is going to be the right thing. If you're trying to decide between doing something that is comfortable vs. forcing something that you think might be "seductive", it might be best to do what you personally feel is more natural. So if you feel like it would have been weird for you to grab her hand and lead her over there, then it probably would have come off weird - make sense? This doesn't apply to everyone because many people new to pickup will choose to "do what's comfortable" 100% of the time, which means they'll be creepy wall-liners all night. For you personally it seems like when you are in an interaction and you're not exactly sure what to do, go with what feels comfortable to you because that will come across genuinely. And I have to emphasize this doesn't mean never do anything new, just do what feels right when you aren't certain. Remember there are millions of women on this planet, and this one isn't all that special just yet.

First timers get really stuck in the pit of tiny changes in phrasing. Confidence and being fun and forward is KEY. Everything else is pretty much bullshit. You did really well, the fact is you win some you lose some. Even if you are really experienced you will have losses. But the fact is it's exactly the same with this as in sports, the greats are the ones with a short memory for bad plays ;)

Good job dude!
Definatly introduce yourself :)
Did she maybe wanted you to fight harder for her number ? Was the conversation over after she said no, or did something else follow ?

You did great, bro.

Yeah sounds pretty good I wouldn't hold someone's hand until there was a decent amount of physical rapport in other ways. Definitely introduce yourself people will be glad you took the initiative. Don't take it personal that she didn't give you her number anything could be going on and sounds Iike your ask was fine.

That opener was great and I like how you were focused on having fun, that is key. Based on those two things alone I'd say your doing amazing for a first timer.
One thing I will say, try not to hesitate on asking for the number. When I started doing cold approaches I would try to build up to asking for the number and always seem to wait until the very end of the interaction to do it. Thats way too predictable. I've learned to ask as soon as she says something im interested in so I can use that as a reason to suggest a future hangout.

It was the best you made of the situation.
You could have self-introduced or went away to feel less awkward.
She didn't give you her number probably because she has a bf or something else beyond your control. So given that, you did awesome.
