Follow up to my previous post I'm a girl back at college. I want to meet people/guys but I'm feeling a lot of approach anxiety.. I just moved back to college. I don't know anyone at all. It's Saturday night, and I want to meet people instead of hiding out in my dorm. So I decided to just go outside and see where I could go. First time ever wandering out by myself. I live in a college town so there were tons of people walking around on the streets, lots of bars playing loud music, and lots of parties going on. I followed a group of people and found a few parties.

Party #1

Lots of people standing around outside. I see a guy and a girl sitting outside so I open the guy by asking "What's going on here? Why is everyone standing outside?" He says they're only letting girls in and that I could probably get in if I walked up to the door. I laugh at this and say something along the lines of, "I don't think that would work." Thinking back on it now, I'm not sure what would have been a confident thing to say. I just said what I was feeling.

I chat with the girl and the guy for a couple minutes, the guy shows me his fake ID, which is a passport from Argentina. The conversation dies off so I try to get into the party. A guy is standing there turning everyone away. I don't try very hard and just move on to the next party down the street.

Party #2

I wander around awkwardly by myself, going in and out of the house. I end up in the basement looking for alcohol. A very drunk guy is standing there, we make eye contact, and then start chatting. He is really, really drunk. He keeps putting his arm around me and randomly kissing my forehead/the side of my head. My body language around him is not good at all. I feel slightly disgusted by him. I'm not attracted to him at all, but I'm so happy to find someone to talk to that I let him lead me around. I meet his friends, who are all more sober than he is.

His friends decide to go to another party. The drunk guy stays to chat with some other people, and I follow his friends.

Party #3

There isn't much going on. I open a guy and a girl there by saying something like, "Hey, how did you get a beer?" because they were running out. I chat with the guy for a bit because he is from Taiwan, like my family. He doesn't seem all that interested in talking to me. He sits down in a chair and there's nowhere nearby for me to sit so I'm just kind of standing next to his chair. He isn't facing me. He seems a lot more interested in talking to the girl he was with when I met him.

I leave him and go back to the guys I came with. We sit and chat. I chat with one guy in particular for awhile. He mentions that he thinks Asian girls are cute, which may or may not have been an IOI. The drunk guy from before is now puking in the sink. Anyway, the cops show up, and it's 2am, so I say that I'm heading back and leave.

I didn't get any of these guys's contact info, so I don't know if I'd ever run into them again. They didn't ask for mine either, so I suppose they don't really want to hang out with me again?

I came back to my floor and found two girls sitting there, so I started chatting with them and we talked for 2.5 hours. I got one of the girls's phone number, but I don't know if we'll actually meet up again.

Thoughts: I don't feel like I used any PUA stuff other than just approaching people. I think I could come off as more fun/high energy because I wasn't really in a super hyped up party mode. It's very awkward showing up to parties alone and randomly talking to people.

Oh, I also don't target people at all. Basically, I'm happy talking to anyone who will talk to me. I feel like I should get to a point where I can be more selective and go after guys I'm attracted to. I'm not attracted to any of the guys I met, but I just talked to them because they were there.

I also have no idea how to turn these people into friends I actually make plans to see. Is it just that I'll meet lots of people, and a small fraction of them I will connect with enough to make plans to see again? Or should I just be making plans to see whomever I meet?

Anyway, I'm glad I went out instead of staying in, even though I felt really anxious about it.
