That's a long post. More users need to read it. Anyways previous posts discourage nightgame alone, so reading this n is definitely supportive. Now if I only had the guts to go out. From personal experience I feel as if I go out alone presents a lower social status, as far as connections go. Truth is I don't have many friends indeed but I got.my confidence.
[–]Sanityrestored 10 points11 points12 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
In my experience you only portray lower social status if you're just roaming around the bar aimlessly and/or hovering around people you just met. Instead, get in early, stick by the bar and make friendly banter with those around you (some will be receptive, some won't). If you can smoothly chat up enough people, you're bound to find some people that you click and get buddy buddy with, with some welcoming you into their group. Rinse and repeat, if desired. People rarely seem to care/notice if I appear as if I am out by myself
[–]Wolfengristl7 points 11 years ago [recovered] (9 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, there are some things that help with social status, but is a woman at a club really going to notice? For reference, I'm in a college town. Be fit, dress well and be friendly with males and that's all the social status you'll need.
[–]t_11 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
College towns scare me even more. I've been in a couple.
[–]Wolfengristl27 points 11 years ago [recovered] (7 children) | Copy Link
Why? The girls are reliably single, the girls want to meet you (yes, YOU), and the males can be relied upon to be too nervous to go talk to girls.
Man, these women want YOU to be the guy that makes them feel good. When they see you coming, THEY ARE ROOTING FOR YOU! They want you to be the next best thing!
They are on your side until you prove to them that you aren't any different from the other guys.
[–]t_11 9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
That's actually the most motivating way anyone has put it. Goes to show that most users that frequent this sub have problems more complicated than just approaching girls.
[–]t_11 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Alright. So ok. I went to a bar and talked to a couple of people but there were no girls really. However I gained the confidence of going back again and I will. One night will be the might of success.
[–]LukewarmPotato 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
shit man, very well put. It's 1:45pm and it's making me want to go out and meet people!
[–]cat_puke_shoes 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I'm currently living in a college town, but for me it's weird because I'm a nontraditional graduate student (late 20s). I've been hesitant to go out alone because I'm pretty that everyone I tried talking to would be early 20s and I don't know how I feel about trying to hook up with someone that young.
[–]CSseduction 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm 32 and I've had no problem hooking up with 23-25 year-olds. If you're self-conscious about being "older," it's probably going to show.
[–]grass_cutter 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I've gone out alone repeatedly, sometimes out of necessity in foreign countries, sometimes out of necessity at home because no one wants to go out, and I do. Some of my best nights ever were out alone -- well, started alone ;)
To be honest, many people thinks it takes a lot of guts, to go out alone, if you start chatting someone up in the line or what-not. At least abroad. I mean, I'm introverted, but I definitely become more extroverted out alone, out of necessity.
When it comes down to it, who cares. You're there alone because that's how it wound up, and you wanted to go out somewhere. You'll eventually be talking to a girl, alone, and fucking her, alone, so I guess you can manage without a couple friends!
[–]Cam3739 10 points11 points12 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Good post, and I completely agree. Within the last year I moved to Atlanta from Philly, and I knew absolutely no one. I have plenty of friends back home that I would go out with and it was always fun going with a group, so when I first moved down here I was like you and didn't want to go out alone. It's not bad at all. It's actually much easier meeting new people when you're by yourself because it forces you to branch out when you don't have your comfortable and familiar group of friends to socialize with. It's also been interesting seeing people's reactions when they find out I'm new to the area, don't know anybody and still have no problem going out and chatting people up. I guess it portrays confidence, which is always a good thing. It only gets easier and you have nothing to lose. My 2 cents, just wanted to reinforce what you said.

Hey don't knock the witcher, it's a great game! Nah, but seriously, good post. Although what should a person do if they weren't of drinking age yet (me) and couldn't go to a bar to meet people?

I spent 216 hours playing the Witcher lol.
From my experience you can usually find an 18+ club to hit up. Give it a google.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
216 hours? Bruh...that's like a quarter of the time you've been awake the past two months. Glad you started going out
[–]TheJasonSensation 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
You clearly haven't played the Witcher. It is worth it.

[–]TheJasonSensation 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah, I have probably only sunk 50 - 60 into it. Didn't even know you could get up to 216. I thought it was like 100 hours to do everything. Unless Wolf really likes Gwent, I gotta believe he has played the game twice.

I've learned that even though it's scary and even though everything in your body aches right before you go out alone, you push through it and you do it. Slowly over time you keep going out and even though at the start you notice no difference you realize one day down the line what you've been doing and you say "holy shit a month ago I would have shat trucks being out here".
For me it happened three weeks into going out daily, when I got my first number. Even though I had been doing it and putting in time working on myself, I finally noticed progress. Nothing flourished from that number except my realization that it's possible. And to whoever might be reading this at home, feeling afraid and anxious, it's perfectly normal, in fact it's a good thing, make it a trigger to push yourself out and socialize because that's when you know you'll push your comfort. It's not gonna happen on day one, it might not even happen on week one but all I know is that slow progress is better than no progress.
Now all these posts on seddit are a reality when before they were dreams or a 'someday'. I haven't gotten laid yet , I'm not some master PUA, but what I have gotten is increased confidence, epiphanies along the way and a feeling that everything will work out. And that's something I haven't felt in years.
[–]WhosCountin 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is a great post. Last time I was forced to go out alone (on a business trip, there for a networking event that ended at a bar), I saw an Asian chick I wanted, and since I was already out alone (with a clear reason/explanation I could give... Which is a crutch) and warmed up from forcing myself to socialize for the hours before that, I just walked up to her, made intense eye contact, said "Hi, I'm WhosCountin" and held eye contact and smiled. She kind of waited for me to falter, but after a second and a half or so, the confidence visibly melted her. Ended up with an F-close that night after she had repeatedly thrown out the "I don't just sleep with anyone" and other shit-tests/anti-slut defenses. The fact that she kept saying that over the course of the night would have discouraged me a year ago, but after a year of reading about this shit, I was more than aware that her bringing that up out of nowhere was a very good sign.
I was in a different city and felt like a different person, and I was forced into the situation - but the point is that when I was forced into that, I suddenly was living like the person I wanted to be. Going out alone also allows you to be whoever you want. When you're around people who know you, it's easy to fall into the trap of playing to their expectations of you. Even if you're not aware of it, being alone frees you up so much more.
TL;DR: Great post, OP. Read Models. Force yourself to go out alone. You're capable of way more than you realize. Also, kino like a motherfucker

What does TRP methodology stand for?
[–]Wolfengristl11 points 11 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link
I posted this originally to The Red Pill.
Unfortunately, they prefer circlejerking "All women are like that" posts, "Wow, The red pill works!" posts, "My eyes have been opened!" posts and "Wow, look at this pussy who got cheated on, TRP confirmed guise! AWALT." posts
TRP has never given out actual advice on what to do to meet women. They just say "Increase your SMV: Work out, get nice clothes, develop cool hobbies, and work your ass off to get a better job."
Nothing against that, but it doesn't exactly solve the problem of "Soooo... wtf do I say to a girl when I meet her at a bar?"
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Easy. You tell her how alpha you are. Then she follows you home and makes sandwiches for you for the rest of your lives. That's it. For real though, thanks for the post. I appreciate it.
[–]PsychologicallyFat 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
EXACTLY the problem! No matter how much self-improvement I make, still doesn't change the fact that my brain becomes a barren desert after I say hi (to any stranger, not just girls). How does one fix that?

"your excuses only make sense to the person who is saying them"
This right here will be my mantra for the weekend. Thank you for these words. Slowly I've been working my way to going out alone. Your story is so similar to mine, park by the college bar strip and walk around looking for an interesting crowd. But you've showed me that any bar can be interesting. You just gotta dive in there.
[–]nolander_78 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I've been in your shoes for a couple of years, friends all married and you feel kind of outcast, it takes a lot of convincing yourself to get out, and when you do you start talking yourself out of it, I found the best way to give yourself some confidence is to plan your trip, decide which places you're headed to, what you intend to order, help even plan your conversations, anything that can prevent you from questioning your decisions.

I don't have much to add, that was a good read. Exactly what I aim to accomplish, but the bars around here suck. I live in the sticks so there's only maybe two, and there's not a lot of college age girls. Not to mention that I still do live with my parents...
But a really good book to read for what you're aiming to accomplish would be Rapid Escalation by Liam McRae. His philosophy on game is even more open-minded and more practical than Mark Manson's. When you buy the book it includes access to a bunch of bonus videos, including one of the better interaction/kino demonstrations I've seen thus far. Definitely recommend it. It doesn't really click with TRP methodology, it's kind of its own thing, which I think is much better than TRP.
[–]Kalarel 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Huh. Interesting. When I first started going out, I actually did it alone, because I don't have much friends. Never realized that being nervous about that is a normal thing. I kinda assumed it was just me and my social ineptitude.

<<I'm not scared to approach, but I don't know what to say after I introduce myself (direct approach) and shake their hand and go kino really quickly. But I MUST fix this! I WILL FIX THIS.>>
The hardest part is: 1) getting the guts to go out alone, and 2) actually approaching a girl. You've already got this.
Here's an easy opener after "Hi, I'm ____." (Not saying this is the BEST opener, but it can work and it's super easy). Ask her this question: "So, what's your story?"
What's great about this question is that it's so open-ended. Most girls will be a little thrown off by it, but that's good. They'll probably laugh and ask, "What do you mean?" But keep it cool. Just repeat, "You know, what's your story? Who is [insert girl's name]?" This gives her the opportunity to say basically whatever she wants. She may start with what she did that day and how she ended up at this bar. She may start with the day she was born. Doesn't matter... she's talking and beginning to open up to you. BUT HERE'S THE KEY: Don't just sit back and let her talk for 10 minutes straight. Interrupt her early and often. "Wait... what do you mean your family is 'crazy'?" "Whoa... slow down. You were born in Israel? Do you remember it?" This gives you the opportunity to steer the conversation.
Give it a try. It's nearly fool-proof.

Sorry for being blunt, but true religion isn't the best. I'd look into some better jeans.
TRP is incredibly toxic and will develop in you a mindset of self-righteous indignation and general anger, as opposed to anything positive and helpful. It's high comedy, but be very careful taking what they say seriously. It's hard to determine the nonsense from the truth.

Good post OP. My two cents:
Everyone should absolutely go out alone. My F-close rate is definitely better than when I go out in a group. For me seduction is about taking control of my life and getting what I want: I see that girl, I want that girl, I go and get that girl. Without letting little bullshit get in the way. If you want to get laid, fucking go where people go to get laid. No, you don't need buddies, you are a complete person yourself, you are capable of entertaining yourself, and you don't need anyone else to have a good time. Other than the girls you're gonna take home of course. Take responsibility: the only thing preventing you from getting laid is you, so stop being an obstacle to yourself and take action.
Next, I recommend everyone stay the hell away from the TRP. They represent old-school sexism dressed up as self-empowerment. The objective should be to be a 21st century man: strong, confident, know what you want and get it, but know that while it is 100% true that to get laid you need to know how to work a woman's emotions, EVERYONE uses both their emotions and reason. For example, think about all the times you considered going out alone but didn't because you were scared. Or that super ballsy approach you did because you were still basking in the confidence afterglow of getting laid. Treat people as people and know how to get in peoples' pants, no reason to get all sexist.
But that is really a side issue and not that important. Congratulations OP on moving that much closer to your objective and setting a good example.

TRP does not recommend old school gender roles. In fact, take a visit to their front page. You will find that the basic advice is to fuck bitches, live your life, and never ever ever get married. Since it sounds like your idea of old school sexism revolves around traditional gender roles, I will draw the conclusion that you assertion is incorrect considering what they say their goal is, and reading what you think their goals are.
You ought to read a little into their material. Regarless of where you believe a man or woman "belongs," this /r/seddit community exists because you were taught something growing up.
WE were taught that women were princesses just like Jasmine and Ariel before you could even remember watching those movies. We were taught that we WOULD get the girls we wanted, on the merit of being the hero of OUR story. I'm the main character of my life... where's MY princess?
They aren't out there for us if we continue to behave the way we have been. Hoping that some magic happens at a coffeeshop, or the gym or the bookstore. We were told by our mothers that "It would just happen." "Once you stop looking, she'll find you."
Lemme dispel that notion for you. That advice above is absolutely women-centric advice. An attractive girl has had love "just happening" all her life. She doesn't have to wait outside of a class she thinks a guy is in just to "accidentally" bump into him to meet that boy she likes. It "just happens" to her, only the other way around.
When was the last time anything like that "just happened" to you? It never has, and it never will.
Look at this community! Men, who want nothing more than to feel the touch of a woman, who haven't ever kissed a girl. Driven to the internet to figure out how to talk to girls because we were never taught how to do it. IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS WAY.
To what lengths would you go to pretend that everything that was ever promised to you was a lie?
Would you treat a girl the way your mother told you girls should be treated? Indeed, the way girls DESERVE to be treated?
Look where that got us. On some corner of the internet wondering why we can't girls to like us.
[–]shitsngiggles22 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Alright. I retract "old school."
No, I am not going to visit TRP's front page, for two reasons (though thank you for the kind offer): because I have better things to do than get sucked into the rabbit hole of an internet debate (and I'm certain you do too), and because no matter what you say a true red piller is, there will be assholes whose values and actions are incompatible with my vision of my ideal self, leading to a no-true-Scotsman fallacy.
Now, it seems like your main point is that TRP exists as a forum for male-centric advice with regards to sex and dating, whereas men have heretofore received female centric advice. I reject the notion that such advice has to be gendered. I've been through my share of arguments with feminist types, and this is what my argument usually boils down to: stop gendering things.
The advice I would give to young men and women would be to know what you want and get it, while respecting others (this part is usually self-evident but it doesn't hurt to include it). This is even more useful to women than to men, since the dating world is the way it is- men active, women passive. Like you said, this explains where the female-centric advice comes from.
You might doubt that my non-gendered advice would actually benefit females, and that's understandable, since it's so rare that women are active in terms of dating. I myself have seen it once, but boy was it a sight to see. She scanned the crowd, found the one man that excited her above all others, approached, talked for maybe 15 minutes, and then they were gone. She was doubtless helped along by gender roles and her own good looks, but damn if it wasn't a great example of what everyone, not just men, should aspire to. She was a feminist in the worst kind of way, and a massive hypocrite in many areas, but that doesn't change anything about the act itself.
In your representation of female-centric advice, you conflate two different attitudes: how one should act with respect to the world, and how one should act with respect to a specific partner. Moving on from my critique of why this advice for conduct with respect to the world is bad for both genders, I absolutely see nothing wrong with treating women the way my mother said they should be treated, if we take the way my mother said women should be treated to be with honesty, caring, and sensitivity. This doesn't mean putting the pussy on a pedestal. This advice could be benefited by adding that you need to make sure she treats you well too- don't put up with bullshit, don't waste your time with someone who doesn't respect your time- but it isn't wrong as it is. Most important in my opinion is however is realizing that sexualizing and being sexual with someone isn't bad, that you shouldn't be ashamed of your sexuality, and should welcome opportunities to share your sexuality with those that are potentially inclined to reciprocate. If your argument is that TRP supplies this other side of the coin to men, that it tempers harmful-to-useless female-centric advice with sexual assertiveness that is essential to getting laid, then I concede the point. But it seems to me like you're saying that this female-centric advice sabotages men and must be excised and replaced by pure aggression.
This is why TRP is harmful. By saying "forget what you have been told, just be assertive," it gives young men the wrong idea about how to treat women. Assertiveness is crucial, but by reducing the entire notion of seduction to just that, the basic idea of being a good human that our mothers instilled in us is lost. And make no mistake, TRP is reductive. Lest you say I'm strawmanning you, what is TRP at its core? The entire idea is you take the red pill like Neo, the scales fall from your eyes, and you realize that the truth is simply do be dominant, aggressive, assertive. For some young men it absolutely true that they need more of this, but this should not be the central philosophy. When you make your life all about being the alpha male, you're a jerk. That's it. Maybe you'll be able to bang some insecure chicks. More likely you'll lose friends.
So, to conclude. TRP asserts that it is a resource for males to remove the shackles of a female-centric worldview with respect to dating. However, nongendered advice (if we're being charitable, we'll call it audience-neutral TRP-lite, though I call it being a 21st century (wo)man) to treat yourself and others well is better for everyone, including women. TRP however is unbalanced and aimed specifically at men and turns them into assholes.
I see I have failed at resisting being sucked into the internet argument vortex. Fuck. Fare thee well.
TL;DR? Read my concluding paragraph.
[–]Wolfengristl0 points 11 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link
I don't disagree, but you say that you think we should treat women the way in which our mothers taught us. Sounds good, if we were taught to behave like men at the same time.
Also, you should dispel such disingenuous sentences such as "thank you for the kind offer." I didn't offer you anything.
You should also stop pretending thst you are too good to be discussing this (you are not).
I didn't say anything about behaving with pure agression, I said we have been lied to.

I love going out alone, I've only done it a few times for a couple of shows but it was arguably one of the best times I've had. If I'm out somewhere with my friends at a club or concert I like to do my own thing but it's different when you're completely by yourself. It pushes you to just do whatever without worrying about where people are and gives you the motivation to just talk to a whole bunch of random people.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I don't particularly like going out alone because typically chicks will go out in pairs of 2 or 3, and they typically stay together the entire night so you are bound to be cockblocked by one who is miserable and not getting any attention from men. Quite a few girls tend to have neverending egos at nightclubs. It's nice to talk to someone extroverted and friendly rather than the one who gives 1-2 word responses, even if you aren't trying to get any phone numbers.
[–]rangamatchstick 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
6 Months clubbing and day gaming two to three times a week sober, by myself was the biggest improvement I ever did as it goes after your sub conscious, how you think, react and ect, stuff you can only improve through experience. It does get hard approaching groups but you get used to it, and allows you to always have a backup if your friends down show.
[–]HappyMexican 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah bottom line, if you have a choice between staying home or going out alone, go out alone. A lot of us averages joes don't have the social circle (why were here too) to have a person on hand. And most of the guys I have been out with, they only get in the way.
If you are super nervous about going out alone, best thing I can reccommend is take some salsa lessons and start at a salsa bar alone. Lotta girls will go out with one friend or even by themselves and expect/want to be approached by you.
Rejection rate is better at these places. Usually even on bad nights I only get turned down once every 3 or 4 women there. Good nights less then half turn me down. Eventually I find one girl I click with and dance with her all the long night and really get to know her.
I am thinking about writing a post about this idea too. Gives you a reason to go to the bar that is not "Trying to get laid".

Benzos = dangerous af
What you're saying is true, and I'm not disagreeing with your advice. But given the high instance of social/general anxiety on this forum, it's worth a disclaimer that Xanax is very addictive - physically and mentally; rebound anxiety is a bitch, and the physical withdrawals can kill you if you stop cold turkey after extended use.
Nothing wrong with dangerous drugs... As long as you are aware of the dangers going in!
Source: was prescribed Xanax willy nilly by a doctor who didn't even mention the risks and instructed me that I could take it up to two times per day. Low dose, so never went through seizures or died or anything like that, but getting off of it was a pretty awful experience for someone who had anxiety to begin with (and didn't realize it was going to be 10x worse while I dealt with withdrawals).

I don't avoid it. Are you going to stand there and not touch her? Perhaps you think it is acceptable to instantly go for a hug? Go for it, and please report back with your results.
A handshake is socially acceptable, and it socially allows you to put your other hand on the small of her back and lean her forward so she can hear you better when you introduce yourself.
