Hope that title was controversial-sounding enough to get your attention ;-)

Actually what I'm talking about is nothing terribly manipulative. Here it is:

So last night some old friends of mine from college were in town. Both girls, and both cute. We have a long and ridiculous history and quite honestly even trying to get back with either of them holds no appeal for me. So that's not what I'm talking about.

My question is this: I have read a lot of about how being seen with women is supposed to make you more appealing to women. But I can't see how that is supposed to work. There I was with two good-looking girls, and we were laughing and having fun, etc. To anyone who didn't know the backstory, it must have looked like I was the man.

But how do I do anything with that impression?

Some details about the situation:

  • We went to a pretty popular bar/restaurant place and sat outside, at a table. It occurs to me that that may have blown out any possibility of meeting anyone new before I started, since it's really hard to start any conversations at a table rather than a bar.

  • I'm probably just imagining, but it did seem like the (hotter-than-my-friends) waitresses were hanging around us more than one would expect, and trying to qualify themselves to us a lot. I didn't do anything drastic in terms of flirting with them. I should have, I think, just to see how they would have reacted.

  • Both of my friends kept telling me I looked good and was well-dressed. So, at least efforts in those departments are paying off.

Any tips on such situations?
