How to keep your facebook profile attractive.

From my experience, Facebook is a deathzone. I actively avoid friending girls I've met or am interested in. If a girl tries to friend me, I usually tell her I don’t use Facebook too much.

It's fine to get a girl's e-mail, but Facebook almost always works against you. There are just too many pitfalls even if you have a carefully groomed profile.

Here's why.

Facebook is a validation engine. It’s built so that whenever you post pictures, your friends can “like” them and comment on them. That’s validation.

If you notice on Facebook, hot girls get a ton of validation. Girls in general get a lot of guys posting things on their wall, ‘liking’ their posts and photos, and commenting on their stuff.

By playing the Facebook game, you start to validate her in ways that do not lead to physical intimacy. You waste valuable cache that could be used connecting with her or making her wonder whether she has you.

It can take away the mystery. Once you’re friends with a girl on Facebook, she can get a very good idea about you. That can take away a lot of the intrigue.

There’s also a good chance her opinion of you will change for the worse. You worked hard to make a good impression when you first met her, why risk ruining it?

Maybe she sees you with a lot of girls and decides you’re a player. Maybe she doesn’t see enough women in your photos and decides there must be something wrong with you.

Maybe your pictures are too boring. Or you come across as too much of a party guy. Or you don’t have enough travel photos. Maybe she thinks your status updates are stupid. Or you come across as anti-social because you update your status too much.

There are a lot of pitfalls in showing her even a carefully groomed profile. In contrast, when you’re in person with her, you can calibrate and show her exactly what you want to show her.

If she’s into you, she may ‘mark’ her territory. If you’re dating more than one girl at a time, you’re vulnerable if a girl gets really into you. She may mark her territory by putting up posts on your wall, commenting, and liking your stuff. She may start to over-do it.

At that point, it’s really difficult to unfriend her or ask her to knock it off without pissing her off. In many ways, your Facebook account is rendered useless at that point.

It becomes a problem when breaking up. Even when I’ve had exclusive relationships with women, I’ve avoided friending them on Facebook. That’s because if the relationship goes sour in any way, you’ve got a mess to deal with.

If you’re getting too emotional over her, it’s really easy for you to get jealous. It’s possible she could even try to make you jealous by posting pics of her with guys. Or she’ll see your status updates and get jealous. Or you’ll try to get back at her by posting pics of you with girls.

You might feel like you can’t post and say certain things on Facebook because she’ll see.

If you get mad at her, you might unfriend her and that could make you look petty. Or you might want to unfriend her, but you don’t want to piss her off. It’s pretty much a mess.

It’s very difficult to 'game' a girl on Facebook. There’s something to be said about online dating. It has it’s place. And it’s not impossible to meet a girl through Facebook.

But if you’ve met her in person, the actions you take on Facebook tend to only hurt your situation with her. Sure, you can banter with her through messages, just like you could through e-mail or text. But if you haven’t made a good impression in person, there is very, very little chance that you will make headway through Facebook.

If she won’t agree to a date in person, it is highly unlikely that you will say or do anything through Facebook that would change her mind for the better.

Hey bro, you care wayy to much. Sure this might in some ways improve your facebook profile, but to be honest i think the goal of any guy should be to "become high value" not make his facebook profile look like he is "high value."

I disagree with turning off facebook chat for one, first of all, no girl is going to be constantly checking your online status on facebook chat and be like "Lol this guy is always on the facebook chat he must have no life I will not sleep with him" Secondly if you are on facebook chat THAT much, then usually there are other issues to fix anyway. Personally though I Leave my computer on literally 24/7 (like I never turn it off) and this effectivly means that I am always online on facebook chat, wether I am at the computer or not.

Second of all facebook chat is one of the most potent ways to get laid through facebook in my opinon, easier to do it through chat than through messages(not that messages are at all hard.)

Edit : I mean if the vast majority of pictures is you sitting infront of the computer playing Warcraft or something then sure that might not be the best for you, what I am saying is that if you just do go out and have an interesting life or whatever, you dont really need to micro manage your facebook profile. And putting people in the mindset that they need to worry about not having the perfect set of pictures on their facebook profile. I think one of the biggest mistakes you can do about your facebook profile when getting girls is trying to hard\coming off as you are trying too hard, and this could set you up for that.

Solid advice. I'd also add this: Delete people who aren't really your friends. This will make people you add feel much more "special" to be in your presence and is a good DHV.

Wrong! If anything, delete your Facebook account and go out and be social. Facebook is only for losers. If some chick actually tries to pawn you off with a Facebook account, she probably isn't interested in you. I would suggest saying "Hah! You still use that? What are you, like 12? I think my niece in elementary school uses Facebook. Maybe I can ask her to use her account to message you."
