Personally I prefer your kind of attitude, maybe because I am not really keen on direct cold approach. You may miss on some uncommon situations when girl's body language is communicating disinterest while direct suggestion can magicaly change her mind, but on the other hand in most cases you will save yourself going through a bitter rejection. Your choice.

Direct or indirect doesn’t matter much. It’s not of a what (method), but more of a how (you do whatever approach you use).

I would use her RBF to open; “you know what an RBF is? You are so good at it.”

RBF is more like a compliment than an insult, meaning that she’s comfortable with her self and maintain boundaries. Typically celebs or high status people do this, subconsciously. When one is pointed out that she’s got an RBF, 9 out of 10 she’ll smile or laugh as most people are not aware of it.

Is this not normal? I don't see why anyone would consider randomly escalating and asking for the number if there's no chemistry.
