Yea they say typically when you make eye contact that you should approach right away. Plus do it right away because approaching is a lot like diving off a cliff, the more you think about it the more you'll make excuses not to jump

I like to think of it from her perspective.

Moment you guys make eye contact,

"Ooh, I wonder who this guy is? What is he like? What does he do?"

Then 5 seconds later,

"Wow, okay. He's still looking at me and he hasn't come over. Do I have something on my face? Is my dress ripped somewhere?"

Then 10 seconds later,

"Okay this is getting weird. Why are you looking at me?"

30 seconds,

"this guy is weird, and possibly a creep. I'm going to ignore him or walk away."

Basically, best time to approach her is when she's still having the novel experience of seeing you for the first time. In that moment, she is secretly rooting for you. Rooting for you to come over and sweep her off her feet. Don't hesitate, go approach and find out if you're compatible.

Don't give a fuck about what other people say.
Better to approach girls who check you out because you minimize the risk of getting rejected.
Approach immediately as you said.
Keep it short and to the point.
Optional but extremely effective - Try to build some social momentum in advance by talking to people you already know or cashiers, baristas etc.

A good way is to use a 5 second rule. As soon as you see her make a mental count down to five as you walk towards her. That is all the time you have for the opportunity. Anything after that and you have failed the approach. Especially after she senses, or sees you nearby ...she will see that you're lingering and will instantly label you as a creeper.

Yeah, I mean try to see the situation from her perspective... guy she doesn't know follows her to the library, probably from behind. Whenever you follow from behind its going to creep her out.. remember, there is no right opportunity.

This is true, BUT if you miss the initial approach, don't stalk at her or stare at her. Mind your own business but if something comes up like you need to go to the bathroom and would like someone to watch your stuff or if you need help finding something; this can be your second bite at the apple.

Case in point - I was at a coffee shop and there was a female who sat next to me. I thought she was cute but didn't immediately approach (mostly because I was truly busy with work) but I thought I lost my shot. So I went back to work.

An hour lately, I needed to use the phone so I asked her if she minded watching my stuff while I excuse myself to use the phone. She said, ok.

When I came in I thanked her and said she did such she should let me buy her a coffee. We started talking and ended up going out a few times. Didn't turn into anything but it shows that you can recover if you don't approach immediately.

Sit back, stay cool, don't stare and stalk and wait for another chance to strike.

But even after saying that, approaching immediately is still best.

It's also good to approach right off the bat because even if you blank or merely just introduce yourself and then walk away it opens up the chance for rapport later.

Basically, the initial approach establishes a connection and makes everything easier from there.
