The friendzone is (supposedly) a fake concept that is meant to humiliate women who don't want sex with their male friends.

That makes no sense at all. You can call it what ever you want but, that large area where males (who are unwillingly befriended by their crush) go. We have labelled it the "friendzone". You can call it the chodezone if you want, doesn't matter. It's very much a real concept.

I dont think it humiliates women as much as it emasculates men. So much of society says you're not a man if you're not smashing pussy 24/7, and the friendzone is for dweebs that cant run game...but being friends with women is awesome.

Men put themselves in the friendzone.

I think the language is a bit mysogonistic. Its implying that by being punished by being put in the 'friendzone' (read: time out) that the woman who put you there has done so unjustifiably (as in its not the mans 'fault' he's in there) and she's a bit of a bitch for doing so.

All humans have a right to choose who they want relations with and who they dont. And for those saying 'oh you can get out of the friendzone', 90% of the time that means you need to be a dick. I've got female friends who i'm not attracted to in the slightest. Nothing they could do to change that. Its naieve to think that its different for men.

First and foremost, you have to understand that men almost never meet a girl and think "Wow. She's attractive! I bet she'd make a great friend!" Nearly 95% of time we men initiate contact or introduction, its almost always in the hope of an intimate relationship. We're not looking for a friend. We are looking for a mate.

What happens more often than not is the woman isn't interested in the guy physically or romantically, but sometimes still likes him for his personality and offers to be "just friends". Sadly, the men accept this offer for hope that one day she will realize how awesome he is and that he does, in fact, posses all the qualities she's looking for in a mate, and his love and affection will be rewarded and reciprocated.

Persoanlly I have a problem with this on two fronts. 1) As a man, if Im interested in a woman who's not intersted in me, NO, we probably cant be friends. I dont want a friend. I want more than a friend. Thats like applying for a job, getting turned down, and accepting an internship with no pay, no benefits, an very little hope of it becoming a permanent paid position.

2) There are in fact women out there who take advantage of men in the friend zone. Lets be honest: if your friend is pining after you and harboring a vast amount of unrequited love... chances are you know. There are women out there who love the attention and the adoration and the desparation these men feed them. Its an ego boost of epic proportions. All while not having to offer anything of substance in return. They accept dates with these men when bored. They call them and whine about other men or drama. They may even offer the occasional cuddle fest or low level intimacy to suit their own selfish needs. These women are inhibitors of a horrible situation. It's my personal belief that if you know someone feels a certain way about you and want more than you can or are willing to offer, you have a responsibility to that person to make it CRYSTAL CLEAR that it's not now and probably never going to happen!

And of course this goes both ways. There are many women out there stuck in the friend zone as well, so lets not be so quick to point the gender blame.

The bottom line is the friend zone does exist... and it's a sad sad place indeed.

Simply put the friendzone is when one of two parties has unreciprocated feelings, when somebody wants to be intimate with a friend yet the other person doesn't feel the same way. Whether it be a guy or a girl in the friendzone, it exists. Hence, it is not a "fake concept" and this person's argument is not true.

The fact that he/she is saying "it's meant to humiliate women" makes me assume that he/she is emotionally affected by the friendzone. He/she senses injustice. However, the friendzone affects both genders although we most often hear about guys being the victims.
