I still fail to understand why this sort of thing is fun. If someone tells you to stop, tells you they don't want to sleep with you, why is that a turn on? Why wouldn't it always be preferable to find someone who wants to give enthusiastic consent?
[–]Plasmachild 9 points10 points11 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Rejection is never fun nor a turn on, and I don't think the guys here are using this advice as justification for rape. Everything comes with the little sign that says "as the situation warrants". In some situations she's not saying no, she's saying not yet. I think everyone every guy appreciates enthusiasm. (some) Girls for some reason think that your enthusiasm is you trying to hard, and their enthusiasm marks them as a slut.
[–]DrKinkenstein 8 points9 points10 points 15 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
A point: if you even get to the point of her "really putting up a fight," yes you should stop immediately...but you crossed the line a while ago, and have now scared the fucking bejeezus out of, traumatized, and sexually assaulted someone. Forget the fact that you might go to jail. Think for a second about the fact that you're mentally scarring someone, probably for life. Stop before then.
For goodness' sake, unbuttoning one's pants doesn't mean "Fuck me now! No means yes!" Maybe it just means that her pants are uncomfortable and she doesn't want to sleep in them. If she fought your advances towards her groin, maybe it means that she doesn't want to have sex, and that if she unbuttons them and you start pawing at her, it's going to make her very uncomfortable, even afraid.
Respect your sexual partner/s' boundaries. Feeling comfortable and safe is very sexy and seductive.
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 15 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Agree with your first point, but why the hell would a girl unbutton her pants around a dude she KNOWS wants to have sex with her when she doesn't want to have sex? That makes no sense. The only explanation is that she's playing mind games with her words and is in fact open to having sex.
[–]opportuneport 2 points3 points4 points 15 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
I slept in the same bed as a number of people before I was quite ready to have sex with them. Just because I was comfortable being mostly or all the way naked with them, even comfortable doing other sexual things with them did NOT translate to "please put your penis in me right now".
People who respect my boundaries early earn my trust, and my boundaries then expand.
Sometimes, when I say something, I do actually mean it. I realize that not everyone is the same, but it is possible.
[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 15 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
In this situation, after the guy has made some sexual advances, unbuttoning pants still does not make sense.
[–]opportuneport 1 point2 points3 points 15 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Consenting to some intimate or sexual behavior is not the same as consenting to all intimate or sexual behavior.
If a guy takes off his pants, I don't always assume I'm welcome to peg him, even though it COULD mean that. If I'm confused, I ask.
[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 15 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
If you have a dildo strapped on (suggesting you want to peg him) and then a guy takes off his pants while in bed with you, it means he wants to be pegged.
If a guy is making out with a girl, grinding on, fondling genitals through clothes, etc (suggesting he'd like to escalate sexually), and then she unbuttons her pants, it means she wants him to do something with her vagina or otherwise escalate sexually.
[–]opportuneport -2 points-1 points0 points 15 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Okay. So if such activities are happening, and then IMMEDIATELY one starts taking off one's pants, it's probably an indication of escalation. Where that escalation stops (manual, oral, vaginal, anal) may be up for grabs, but yes, there's very very likely some escalation there.
But if there was some sexual behavior, it has stopped or slowed, and there has been an explicit "no"-- hours later, if I want to sleep, one might take off one's pants. And I think that's what DrKinkenstein was trying to point out.

I read this whole thread and I love the very last sentence.
[–]daygamer 0 points1 point2 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
So the girl is getting mentally scarred but she stays in bed with him, instead of getting out of bed and calling a cab to go home. Bollocks.

“I don’t want to”
OK, so when I hear this she wants me to get more aggressive with her and show her I want it and that I can make her want it too? Got it.
How do I tell the difference between passive rape and violent rape, though?
You know, since I'm inebriated and my trained and entrenched sense of sexual entitlement blinds my ability to discern consent?

You guys got x-posted by twoxchromosomes who turned this into a downvoting party. They get pissed, but it happens. My buddy was hitting it off with this chick, took her back to his room to (we all assumed) have sex. The next day he tells us that they didn't because he tried twice to make a move and she said no both times. The day after that, a mutual friend of that girl tell us that she complained that he didn't make a move.
Basically what the man is trying to get at is use common sense. If it's really obvious she doesn't want to have sex, then don't. But if all signs point to yes (and I do mean ALL signs, not just one or two) but she's putting up light "resistance", keep trying.
[–]Plasmachild 7 points8 points9 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You got beat with the downvote bat! Upboat for you good sir.
[–]RedPosterboard 1 point2 points3 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thanks for that, brother.
[–]peut-etre 0 points1 point2 points 15 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I think the issue might be that it's an internet thread targeted asking people to use common sense. I know some girls who do the whole "You're so bad... we can't.." etc, all while massaging some dudes dick and clearly not seriously saying "no" (totally fucked in my opinion -- isn't it sexier to be just as enthusiastic as your partner? Fuck all that fake virgin BS) -- and this thread is targeted at those situations, where consensual sex is going to happen if things progress.
That being said, some people on the internet just do not have common sense. This thread could actually be terrible, in that it could concievably convince some douche that any time a girl says no, she's really just being coy and means yes. I don't think this thread was meant maliciously, but it could be read by some of the "bad men" (OPs words) as an insta-green light as long as his face isn't being scratched off. I think that's why this was downvoted so hard by the 2XC ladies.
Also, if it matters at all, I'm a chick and I'm not upset by the intent of the OP... knowing how some guys could potentially read it, however, is more than a little worrisome.
[–]cubemstr 0 points1 point2 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I wrote up a reply to this, but apparently my computer decided not to post it.
Basically, yes, it is possible that should people might misunderstand the point of the thread...but for every one person without common sense, there are four with it. And I think (hope to god) that the warnings at the end would deter people from taking it too far.
In the end, terrible people are gonna be terrible people, and I highly doubt this thread is gonna make any rapists that weren't already going to be.

Solid advice for overcoming LMR! Upvoted!
[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 15 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
So...this was great. I'd actually like to hear more on it. I never felt too comfortable with the whole "ice out"/LMR thing.
When exactly do you initially start it? You get her pants off and then she stops you. What do you do then? Ice out and do something else until the tension builds up again? Or take 'one step back' but keep making out, etc. as the OP poster says?
Examples/scenarios greatly appreciated...

One step back and re-escalate in 5 mins seems to be the standard. "Warm the engine up more"
down-voted because...?
[–]BH-rAFC -2 points-1 points0 points 15 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Happened to me too. She said that we were going too fast and that she wants to build comfort by being best friends and seeing if anything develops from there. Hopefully all goes well
[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 15 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
by being best friends...?
[–]BH-rAFC 0 points1 point2 points 15 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Dude, I don't even know. Thats what she said
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 15 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
and is that what you want??
[–]BH-rAFC 0 points1 point2 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not really. but she seems to be too much of an investment (considering the amount I already invested in her already)
[–]clutchPUA -3 points-2 points-1 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
lol good stuff, will keep these in mind
[+][deleted] -6 points-5 points-4 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Great post. On Friday I had 4 hours of token resistance! Crazy long. Funniest part was when she replaced her pants for a shawl and proceeded to tell me we weren't going to have sex. Right..... it took a lot of patience and as you said, "two steps forward one step back".
