I'm too factual and logical. There's got to be a playbook for this stuff. I grew up as an academic under strict parents so I'm convinced that's the source. Now I'm a grown adult and I get into conversations where people earnestly try to state things that I disagree with. In the past I'd try and correct, but that would always backfire so I've subconsciously learned to just be quiet. In one-on-one scenarios it can be an opportunity to break rapport, disqualify and challenge a girl for some investment and I think I handle those okay. It's specifically group settings where I struggle.

So a couple of recent examples are :

- Young people of colour reminiscing about the good old days (we lived in literal south african apartheid back then)

- Cannabis is a recent invention (I know we had it in the 70s, pretty sure we had it since the medieval times and I vaguely remember it being mentioned some millenia BC is asia).

- Corporal punishment of children was great.

I think you get the picture. It's taken me a while to get this far and stfu when someone is saying something I disagree with, but there's got to be a smooth and attractive way to handle these situations. Like smooth ways to change topic or call out the meta. Something like that.
