Opinion openers - doesn't everyone know that this is a standard PUA move?

Yeah, I'm not really a fan of that stuff. I prefer direct, and usually just funny enough to get a laugh but not come off as clownish.

The best thing to do is not use scripted openers. But the cool thing is, people naturally use opinion openers all the time, because it's a pretty common way of making conversation (this applies even moreso with direct and situational openers). As long as it doesn't sound scripted, you'll be fine.

assume she's never heard of PUA stuff. if she has, assume you've never heard of it. this will make her feel dumb and either apologize or continue her rant and look like a bigger idiot. or you could have fun with it: "yes, you got me. it must not be working because i left my giant fuzzy hat at home." (most people really only know who mystery and style are.)

It's also completely normal way to start a conversation with strangers. If you use one that's in all the literature then yes, you run the risk of getting caught. If you use something relevant to what you're doing right now, you can't get busted because it's real.

I asked strangers' their opinion on things long before I ever heard of PUA and I wasn't even single. It's just a natural, social, fun thing to do.

Also, you can get your non-PUA friends to unwittingly help you out. Disagree with them on just about anything (eg "dude, the Stones are so much better than the Beatles"), keep the debate going, then go ask someone to settle it for you. Bonus points if you build it up:

Me: "Hey guys, we need you to settle a debate for us."

Girls: "Sure!"

Me: "This is really important. Life or death kind of important"

Girls: "ok..."

Me: "Ok. The question is: pause Stones or Beatles?"

Not in England. Opinion openers tend to work a charm for me. I generally couple it with some pretty in depth body language...

I position myself looking away from them, generally at the thing I'm asking them about, but very close. You can easily get away with this and it doesn't seem weird because you're looking away from them. From there I generally try to keep my body facing at least 90 degrees away from them. This serves as an IOI test because it gives them ample oppertunity to leave because you're facing away from them and it is a pretty good platform to build kino on.

Yeah, I got burned on magic spells. She read it in a magazine. But, even then it served its purpose, an opener and then I asked the question again (in the hypothetical sense) bam conversation flowed.

Only once in the last three years did I get accused of using a pu line. I was likely in-congruent.
