I hate these posts. Your whole "live happy love life" is bullshit when someone is Starting. Because they aren't happy, its why they're learning game. I agree with this statement for moderate skilled people or late beginners, but people starting out will learn this in time as well. The whole point of starting out is learning everything you can and applying it, so that in time, you end up having this epiphany.

But all of game is important. the little maneuvers are what make you succeed. you don't teach a person to drive by telling them to enjoy the road, feel it out, & smile positively. You teach them by explaining how it works and then having them do it. Eventually they start enjoying the road as they become good drivers.

there are men that have been doing this for years. Go learn from them. Your dad can show you how to drive a car, but Jeff Gordon can teach you to tear up the road like a pro. i.e. learn from professional artists.

TL;DR: Learn game. Apply it. Your overall quality of life will improve and you will love it soon enough.

On a further note about the valleys. The valleys come along almost always when I'm down about myself. Maybe I skipped a week at the gym. I drank too much. Whatever it is it's usually personal. The moment I get back into my routine, going to the gym, eating healthy, working on myself, my game improves again.

I can relate to this. Just like a couple of you I've been reading up and applying this stuff for I'd say 2 years now. Last week I was kind of in a peak, had 2 dates going on and a possible 3rd one. Now I'm in a valley, it's been like this for the past 2-3 days. Definitely hasn't been a huge long valley but still is one nonetheless. Hopefully this passes soon though and I can start feeling great again.

Really glad I read this, and glad I'm not the only one going through this. I've been part of this subreddit for 3 years, some of my posts are in the sidebar about inner game, and I know this stuff well enough... but there's still been a shit ton of ups and downs.

Lately I've been in a bit of a valley, where last month I've had girls wanting to hook up left and right and I could open with not too much issue, and now I'm having issues simply opening. Nothing has changed, except my mindset. Trying to ride it out.

The neediness sure finds a way to creep back in if you're not keeping yourself comfortable in vulnerable positions often. If you are, I find that even though there are peaks and valleys, the average typically inches up over time.

That's exactly right. Most of the advice here is for depressed, unconfident people trying to pretend to be confident. That doesn't work, because there is just too much shit to learn. Learning how to smile, walk, talk, etc.. like a confident person is impossible because most of it is subconscious. It's like trying to learn to play soccer from a book.

Also, if you really are depressed and unconfident, you need to be focusing on improving your life rather than getting girls.

It should be pointed out that the peaks and valleys can also coincide with seasonality. Fall and spring are good times for pick up as that is when girls are most receptive to it. Middle of winter not so much as they are hibernating.
