That last paragraph is the most important part.

Upvoted for that alone

Great post. I don’t believe there is a quicker way to destroy attraction than being the guy who constantly talks over text all day. Thankfully I’m in a position now where I couldn’t do this even if I wanted to.

Hmm I fucked up and I did exactly the opposite of this post with my gf?... I dont know exactly if we are dating but she is leaving mid August and i want to seduce her but dont know how. I'm gonna try this method and see where it goes but I'm trying to get in bed with her but she doesn't want to have sex in general not just with me. Shes a virgin and I'm a virgin, we have made it to 3rd base but she doesn't want to go full home run. Any ideas on what I should do?

I recently got into some texting confusing with a new lady friend. In the very beginning (before meeting in person) we went from OKCupid texting, to phone texting (SMS). I actually texted the entire time up until meeting her in person, to kind of add to the surprise of that first meet. She was very responsive and texted back immediately.
So after we had our dates, the next day I send a message about something, and she responded way later. Same thing 2 days later.
Eventually she calls me the next day and we talk on the phone for about 3 hours. At some point we get to talking about texting and she says she only really uses text for work, friends & family that live far away/overseas, and simple stuff (bring home milk). Other than that, and especially in a relationship, its calling / no texting.
This works for me since I hate texting.

I prefer both but for different reason:
Quick chat with a friend, fast no-reply-needed message... SMS is find for that.
But in a relationship, in the beginning, you need that emotional connection. If that is to grow and form naturally you need to hear the other persons voice to get all the tone, nuance and laughter (hopefully) to make things work.

That last paragraph. True.
I’m never gonna be “happy” but for others, great advice! 👍

This is exactly how I fucked up with the last two girls I was actually into. Solid advice. Listen to this man.
I actually got closure a week ago for the former of these two girls from a friend who ended up becoming really good friends with that girl. She straight up asked her, after a while, what happened. The girls response was that she was really into me for a while but the attraction dropped off cuz she thought I was way more into her than she was into me. This is definitely what happened again with the girl I was seeing a month ago.
[–]AnonUser8509 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
To add to this, there was 110% miscommunication via text with the new girl that ended up with her ghosting me because she was really confused by the totally sarcastic joke I made over text. I know because I asked her about it. Seriously, I can’t stress how spot on OPs advice is.

Good to see some healthy advice on this sub after whatever the fuck that was I read a couple of days ago.

I just met this girl on Tinder and we set up a date the same day we matched. The next day I didn't text her until in the evening basically telling her that I don't like texting a lot before the first date and that I am not ignoring her.
I realized that the only way the date could not happen is if I screw it up over text so if we just don't text the date should happen. She said that she was cool with it but that she wouldn't mind texting a bit before the date. I agreed but I am leaving it up to her to send me texts if she wants to.
The last girl I dated I am quite sure my texting after our second date messed things up a bit so I think OP has a really good point about minimizing texting as it really is a pretty shitty form of communication.

Can I upvote this multiple times? Texting has fucked up my results consistently because I love talking to new girls.

I struggle with this too, my guy. See my comments where I sum up my thoughts in this thread.
We had our dates, but I was texting her too much and she got slower and slower in her responses until she ultimately stopped responding. We were definitely vibing over text and real life.

That’s exactly the reasoning I had and it ended up biting me in the butt. It’s honestly my biggest regret of 2018. Your situation with this girl might be different though— who knows?
That being said, I would give 1 -2 full days of radio silence after you’ve had a fun text convo. I think that 5+ days of silence is too much but under that should be fine if you enjoy talking to each other and have had good dates
[–]Luffydude 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Texting is only there to set up the date, nowadays you have Instagram to keep her warm. Set up the date then be silent until the day of the date (ideally within 2 days, none of this next week bullshit)

Nowhere near as much as texting needy like you point on your post. A few bad posts are not as bad as literally conveying to the girl you have nothing to do but text her

Girls have no idea what I actually do, since I do a variety of stuff they also are not completely sure what I'm into. Key point is that it actually passively games the girls
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Texting in general is considered weak, but I do believe that it has it's strengths when used properly and limited.
When you get a girls number & initiate a setup for a meeting, texting strongly and limited is key. Calling her would obviously be better, but not always as easy imo. If she flakes, your initial attraction sucked, not the lack of texts.
After a proper date, texting could become a very powerful tool as a reminder. No need to get very personal, just give her enough to keep her thoughts occupied. Combine that and you are golden.
[–]kamakaZ101[🍰] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
So what about this scenario.
Hit it off with a girl. Got her number. Talked about seeing each other again when she's in town a month from now. How often do I keep in touch? I don't want to over text but I don't want to go completely silent.

This was well written and well said. The idea of trying to get better at talking to women has become so poisoned that it gets missed that so much of it is stopping the stupid and/or manipulative stuff you were already doing.
Bravo. I wish people whose vocabulary begins and ends with 'negging' would read this.

I like you included that texting back and forth with a girl is not always bad because I, as a girl, really like it when I can text the guy I have plans with prior to the plans. I like it when he texts me and even if it's a simple good morning and short convo - doesn't matter. I for one love it so when they apologize for texting me so much - I always say I actually like it.
Everyone is different and I thought I should mention this because some girls like the attention and feeling wanted.

I disagree. It is not confermation bias. A lot of time if you have even a strong interaction with a girl and you set a date in more than three day (from the day you set it), and you don't text with her in the meanwhile, 80% of the time she will flake you.
At least this is what my experience (or the one that i heard from friends) teach to me, and this is valid in my european country.
And for the last part of your post, it is true that you have to make a life outside of the man-woman interaction, but this don't mean that if you WANT to text a girl for whatever reason, and you have fun in doing that, then you wouldn't do that only to spend time doing other stuff in your life. My best advice is "feel free to do whatever you want, whatever make you happy in whatever fucking time you want to."
[–]hejio12 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
As much as I’d love the OP to be 100% right, in my case too it isn’t that way. I’m from Europe - so I think it’s a thing where people in this area of the world want to feel more comfortable with a stranger.
Take a big example from me last year. Super cute girl - exactly my type and totally into me from the moment we started talking on Tinder.
However, for reasons that were my fault, we couldn’t meet up for a month, and texting felt like a game from that point in. I’m a bad texter anyway, so I didn’t think too much of me initiating conversation twice in that time period to be anything bad. Meanwhile she initiated four times, and on two occasions she did she just to see how I was.
Our date? Sensational. Best I’ve ever had. She then double texted me 20 minutes after the date. I replied, but then didn’t reply to her next message until she’d already gone to bed - so 4 hours later. Admittedly, I did this one deliberately to not seem ‘desperate’.
I then waited an extra day before asking her out for a second date, and she seemed... more distant? Still receptive, and we set up a date, but things seemed off.
Story short, she cancelled and got with another guy afterwards. That didn’t last so she came back to me. I thought it was worth going with for another lay. This is where the texting game went up to 11.
She asked me out and we casually set up a date. Then I went naturally quiet for the next 4 days again. What happened? She flaked for mental health reasons. I told her to message me when she was more herself and went quiet.
And then I didn’t hear from her for 17 days. It was bizarre. She did eventually message me, we flirted around and all seemed good. Then she asked if I was even looking forward to the date, and I joked around, she got offended, and then she outright mentioned how shit my communication was, and that was that.
So yeah, it’s definitely an interesting one. As you can see, I ended up offending her over text via a joke, so in that way OP is bang on about leaving more teasing-type things for in person. But yeah, there’s also a balance for texting needed too. In my case, that initial month wait was unique so it set the stall out for texting games in her mind. I think ideally - especially in Europe anyway - you need to have a bit of fun to build a bit of an extra connection, and then just keep things ticking after a date or two. If you deliberately ignore her or come across as tryhard, it really can go badly.
[–]Alex_O7 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It seems like a behaviour of an italian or french girl that one, lol.
Anyway good story, but in your case i have to ask you why if you have a strong first date and you chat with this girl for a month you don't close her in that date? Also only a K-close would be better than nothing.
[–]hejio12 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sorry, I rarely check this account.
Here’s the thing: I did k-close. In fact, she did it for me. She kissed me first and we started hardcore making out on a park bench.
The thing was, the makeout session was super passionate, and neither of us stopped. This wouldn’t have been a problem if we could’ve gone somewhere, but neither of us had a place free.
I should’ve cut it off while we were kissing, but we went too far without sealing the deal. The makeout session went on for over an hour, and involved her biting my lip constantly, moaning a lot, and tons of dirty talk.
At one point she started kissing my neck. It was like a point of no return at that point. A couple of minutes later she pulled out my dick and sucked me off on the bench.
I froze after that and I didn’t finish on her either. I kinda just cut off the blowjob after like 15 minutes and said I had to catch my bus.
I guess she probably felt super bad the next day. If we sealed the deal then she could’ve just saw as ‘one of those things that got out of hand’, but I probably made her feel super insecure. I don’t know.
Still haven’t heard from her or messaged her myself since she ignored me. She still follows me on Instagram and she hasn’t posted any pictures of her with guys at all, so I’d like to reopen with her at some point. But yeah, it just all went awkwardly after going so well initially.

It's not even a matter of she'll find out and she'll be turned off. It's the fact that if you don't have those things, you will most certainly not be an attractive man and you won't be able to act as such either.
[–]Hmmkey 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I try to keep it brief and not respond too much when there is already a date set, definitely agree you only have something to lose from there on. But i do make sure to be aware when i get the feeling from her texts that she is starting to feel uncomfortable and needs some comfort to feel its alright. Sometimes when girls get really sexual over text i feel like after they are scared a bit because they feel like expectations are created and they are scared not to live up to it or feel uncomfortable because they think you will jump on her for sex the moment you meet up. so i will make sure to make some small talk coming across as a genuine good guy and skip all the sex talk in like the day before we meet up.
