Text Conversations, good or bad

I've [M/20] noticed that the girls I've been involved with respond really well to conversations over text. It seems that they're more likely to push boundaries and respond flirty. That being said, I'm not sure it's the best way to build a relationship. As convenient as it is, it's best to converse in person.

With that said, I'm having lots of trouble moving away from text game. I feel too comfortable on my phone texting girls. Imo, it seems that a good portion of game for the younger crowd revolves around text. I too get a bit confused on whether I should be texting girls. In the past it's worked for me, but I see lots of posts here saying that text should primarily be used for meeting up. Although I occasionally text girls just for the sake of conversation, I'm trying to move away from it (it's hard though).

Texts are useful for three reasons. 1: Initial comfort can be built via small chat (i.e. first contact after meeting in a bar) 2. To use anchors (previously set) so that you can easily elicit an emotional state in them 3. Organizing to meet up

Anything else is masturbation, really.

[M/20] Text game is something wholly different from anything else. Sarcasm is pretty hard to get across, conversations are difficult to keep going strong and kino is impossible.

The idea that it will run yourself into a wall or that it's shit is defeatist and pointless. It's another avenue, walk down the street if you want to, there's gold at the end. You will learn what works and what doesn't...I've messed up so many things trying to learn the text game.

Typically, now, I try to be funny, and cocky. The text makes it seem more blunt, thus funnier, like you said it with a straight face. But as for actual conversations, those don't happen often. It's flirting after all, nothing said ever has much substance...just said to escalate the flirting.

If you want to do it, do it. Text often, text many, fail horribly, succeed from then on. It's a powerful tool.

Texting is all about flirting, non-sequiturs and fucking around, not really something for serious conversation. It can be but keep it to a minimum at all times.

I really do think there is a generation gap in this one.

I'm f/24 and it really annoys me when a guy is texting me all the time. I will think about you a LOT more if you seldom text or not at all.

Everyone is different. Some women respond to text, some don't. I've known one that said she's a "traditional" girl and prefers calling, but texts me more often than not.

Yes, relationships can be built over text. You're in an age of online communication and internet dating, characters on a screen is normal. Just be careful, because you lose a lot of tone with text, sarcasm is hard to read.

Yes, texting can blunt your game. With the wrong person, or done inappropriately, texting can kill off whatever you've started.

All that said, I'm a busy boy, so texting is my preferred method because I simply have little time to talk. I try not to text a lot, unless the conversation is going well.

Generally my phone is for facebook, email, and setting up some face-to-face time.

My opinion, text game is shit. I don't bother texting her unless its to set up plans. I may have short conversations where I tease her from time to time. But I don't believe relationships can be built through texting, they are built from face to face interactions.

Use texting as a primer for your next actual interaction with her. If the texting turns into some long ass conversation you could have in person, that is too much IMO.

It's about being funny, yet slightly distant as well. Be "mysterious". Make her want to see you in person. Be a tease.

I think it should be used as an addition to "normal" game. The problem with text game, in my eyes, is that people use it as a replacement for a real interaction. As long as that isn't happening, I think it's fine.

Its a nice way to get flirty. But don't expect to build anything or gain much out of it.

Personally I've used texting to throw a random flirty msg. Especially mid game if I head off for a short bit. For example: last weekend I was gaming a hb8.5 inside a group of people I convinced to lead to an afterparty. We took different cabs to the after party, and out of curiosity sent a msg along the lines of "i know you're thinking about me now". It was less creepy. Got a reply "how is that :D" (bitches love smileys).

I didn't reply, short cab trip. We kicked it up immediately after the ride. The message only gave me a good measure on my situation. And thus, helped me decide on how direct I need to be after the cab ride.

I think it depends on you and whether or not you can honestly assess your text game. My text game is weak. I only text to meet up or I text jokes to show I have a sense of humor. I also tell women I'd much rather talk over the phone or ideally in person than text. I feel as if a lot of what I want to portray is lost in text.
