I'm a 24/f and have always had a good time going out. I never really hook up with guys- unless you count make out/fool around sessions years ago, but regularly approach and am approached. I think I generally do a great job of making people [men usually, but sometimes women] understand that I'm only interested in friendship- but that I really am interested- not just blowing them off. I buy drinks back and forth, I high five or whatever, and 9/10 I walk out of the bar with a new friend and good memories. Usually we switch numbers and when we go to that bar/area we'd shoot each other a text to hopefully have another drink. It's never phased me.

But now, after reading a lot of this subreddit, I feel a bit uncomfortable. I've seen tactics implemented irl that people here are advocating as a good thing, and they are when I was experiencing them- but now I feel like it was just a game. I was just a person to conquer. a potential lay. Of course, it doesn't end up panning out for those guys, but fuck. I've never been so glad I have rules for myself, because if I didn't I'm sure I'd regret a lot. I just feel completely objectified. I went out a while ago with a girl friend and we were chatting with some guys. It was going well, until I overheard a guy refer to us as a "couple of HB9s". and then tell his friend that he would go for the shorter one [me] and the fried could have the other. Like it was some fucking code I wasn't supposed to understand or hear. I immediately raised an eyebrow and thanked him for thinking me so hot, and informed him that he couldn't have me. Period. And walked away. I saw him less than 5 minutes later creeping on another short blonde- he apparently has a type.

Can someone explain:

It seems to me that y'all almost preach having game. You have rules like the 3 second rule, and don't approach when drinking, and all sorts of shit about kino. As a female reading this subreddit has simply made me aware of the tactics dudes will use to get in my pants, and I am a lot less likely to take any dude who does this sort of thing seriously than I wouldn't been had I not read it. Don't get me wrong, part of me is glad to know what's up, and to understand the game you're playing. But another part of be is sort of... sad. Like I can't just go out to a bar and have fun with a guy without worrying that he's just making the right moves to seal the deal. I'm definitely not the type to sleep around, or even fool around with a guy I don't have a connection with- and it seems that y'all are working on getting that connection down to a science to score ass.

It creeps me out. It makes me feel like I could be a piece of meat.

Can someone please explain why this is okay?

Note: this is not directed at the people who genuinely need confidence and help to simply talk to girls. But reading stuff like this and this and this which pretty much just objectifies women is disturbing to me. Note- I'm not really the ardent feminist type. But this shit is just crazy to me.

I've recently moved to a new town and had planned on going to bars to make some friends- male and female- and now I don't even want to go because I feel like anyone who would approach me [or I them] is potentially not genuine in their desire for me. Or is playing a game to try and fuck me.

Also, why is okay for you all to practice this seduction game, but you lament when women play hard to get? I'm not an advocate of it personally, but it seems very hypocritical. (On a side note, that commandments of poon thing is complete bullshit. Talk about playing games. Jeez.)

I hope I haven't stepped on any toes, I just feel really confused, and for the first time since I was a teen, unsure about my relationship with random guys.

Thanks!
