Provision, protection, independence, strength, resilience, commands respect.

These are all masculine traits. They don't necessarily have to be reflected in the ways you've described. E.g. you don't necessarily have to be rich to show provision or fist fight to protect/show strength.

Respect can even be something like being good at a sport.

But seriously, you should ask them. Even among men we don’t tend to agree on everything. Let alone women’s idea on masculinity. It could also be a good conversation topic you’d have with them.

That’s like asking what do people mean when they say they want to buy a car that is a good value. What someone considers a good value is going to be a little different for everyone.

When a woman says that, ask HER what she means by that, and don’t assume that applies to all women. And don’t assume that all women want a masculine man.

Don’t try to do one-size-fits-all. Personalize your approach to each woman to meet their individual needs.To do that you have to get to know what they like as an individual.

You will hear lists of traits but really it boils down to being able to do hard things. Like in hunter gatherer tribes you have to undergo a manhood test where you perform very difficult feats. Men had to be skilled hunters and survivalists which is actually really difficult and takes a lot of fortitude.

Masculinity in the modern sense can mean having a good career, being able flirt with women and risk rejection, being a leader, telling people the truth when its not something they want to hear, managing strong negative emotions well, working out consistently and getting into great shape, being outdoorsey or handy and being very skilled in these tasks, being willing to fight and protect, and/or being incredibly charismatic and a social magnet. You don't have to be all of these things and men often are some of these.

We are seeing a decline of masculinity because we are getting soft as a culture and doing fewer hard things as technology advances and prefer comfort.

Masculinity and Feminity are ever changing social constructs, neither of which have any tangible evidence or attributes. Neither is defined by what you do, rather the ENERGY in which you do them. A woman can crawl underneath a car and change an alternator and still be feminine based on the energy she exudes, just like a man can put on a apron and bake a cake and still be masculine.

So when women talk about a "Masculine" man, she's talking about his energy, his tone, his security in his manhood despite the task at hand.

I feel like when people say masculine they mean more of a look usually. Just think manly: strong forearms, facial hair, not fruity.

I saw a video on YouTube about the feminization of Japanese and South Korean guys, and girls are absolutely crazy about it. When they see a guy wearing makeup, with lipstick, mascara on his lashes, and a face done up like he just walked out of a beauty salon... they just lose it.

If masculinity (whatever the hell that even means) is supposedly so important, I highly doubt it.

What woman says she wants a masculine man? I hear this obsession about becoming "more masculine" far more from men than I hear women talk about that.

If to some you seem boyish, I think they just mean you seem young. Could be due to genetics (babyface), or the way you behave, talk, think etc. Some like that, and some don't. Some women want a man that presents as older or more experienced.
