Aside from any awkwardness if things go tits up, I think the most important factor is why you are hooking up with someone at work. If there is someone amazing who happens to work with you then that is great. If you are hooking up with someone at work because you don't have many other options (which is true for many office romances), then that is a different matter.

In your case, I'd say as long as you clearly convey the sort of relationship and level of commitment you want, then it sounds awesome! :)

You may be in a state where you can separate your relationships from your work, but can she? You have a responsibility to work successfully with and without your co-workers. if a personal relationship were to affect your work negatively, it'd take a huge toll on you as a person. i don't see the NEED to hook up with people you work with, people only do it because it's easier to build a connection with a person you spend 8 hrs a day with.

This is like saying "Well hey I played russian roulette 3 times and won, whats the big deal?"

What happens when you run across the girl who gets jealous and shits a brick everytime you chat with other female coworkers?

Girl who demands you see her after your shift or she'll make you do extra work, or tells lies to you about coworkers, etc

Maybe she gambles too much and realizes that she can get a huge settlement when she talks about how you forced yourself on her and the company is responsible.

The underlying issue, is that you need your job to eat and provide for your life, and no girl is worth risking that for, specially not over a little sex here and there.

It's because things can become really awkward if people can't deal with things afterwords and your job, which you rely on to eat and put a roof over your head and pay for transportation and whatever else can become hell on Earth. One sided feeling, gossip, having to be in proximity with someone who reminds you of rejection, it's a bad scene. You don't want that, so you generally shouldn't risk dipping your pen in the company ink. If it's in a pickup sense, it's too much of a handicap to gain experience.

To be honest though, it's somewhat subjective and always circumstantial. You could find somebody awesome where you work. Who even knows?

Do you have a job, or a career? If you work at a restaurant to retail store , by all means go ahead bang the hostess . if and when things go bad odds are 1 of you won't work there anymore anyway . But if this is a place you want to move up and be there for years, you may want to maintain a professional image and avoid gossip.

I don't see anything wrong with it, you're both adults. i certainly do not believe in the whole "don't shit where you eat" mentality. I find it to be as stupid as the whole "don't stick your dick in crazy".
