There is a lot of basic stuff you need to get down before you start worrying about dancing if you want to see results with the opposite sex. The basics of confidence building, kino, social proof, etc. are available on the side bar and through some quick searches through seddit. This post is about how dancing can increase/enhance all these things.
Disclaimer I was never a good dancer before I started learning. I literally couldn't follow rhythm or a beat even if I was just listening to a song on my own...if you can do that you are already ahead of me when I started. Also I still wouldn't consider myself a good dancer yet, I'm simply above average and have the confidence to make it fun for myself and my partner.
Salsa dancing is my number one recommended style if you want to learn how to start dancing and also attract women. Styles like break dancing look awesome and get you in awesome shape but don't offer the same male-female dynamic that styles like salsa doing (I'm not saying that you can't meet girls learning to break dance, but it is easier for someone with low dance skills to meet someone through salsa.
The Pros of salsa:
- it is very simple, basic two-step that doesn't take a lot of time to begin doing live
- it is very easy to find a place to take formal classes (especially if you are in the city or go to college)
- it is a partner dance, which means you will always be dancing with a girl
- the guy is always the leader, at least according to the rules of salsa, if a girl is teaching you something she may lead during the interaction...swallow your ego and go learn what you can from her. Being the leader teaches you to be assertive and to lead the interaction, this easily translates to regular interactions.
- it involves lots of physical contact that is easy (but not necessary) to add a sexual component...spinning, hands on her back, holding hands, dips.
- Most Latina girls (my personal preference) at least know some rudimentary salsa (the basic two step)...I literally start salsa dancing with Latina girls at hip hope clubs, often I know more than they do. However, since I'm leading they know how to follow the lead and you can do more complicated steps with them, simply by being the leader. If you are in an area with lots of Latinas then you have a host of possible dance partners...plenty of other ethnicities dance salsa, but you can't just assume they do like you can with many Latinas.
- It gives you something interesting to talk about. If a girl mentions at all that she likes dancing/guys that dance you can talk about salsa, I've always gotten positive reactions when I mention this.
How salsa helps with regular club dancing and with non dancing interactions
- People are usually confident in things they can do well. If you can dance well you will naturally be confident on the dance floor...use the rhythm you learned from salsa to dance to regular club music and not feel self-conscience.
- you get used to approaching girls and asking them to dance
- you get used to touching girls in a basically zero risk environment...you are supposed to touch her, she won't get offended
- social proof: if you are a good dancer, other girls will notice and want to dance with you. If you have basic dance skills then you will find dancing fun, you will appear fun to people around you.
Now get out there and look for a salsa class somewhere, especially if you find it hard to approach girls in general or at clubs specifically. It is fun, something you can continually do your whole life, and is good exercise. Good luck!
