Divorce finalized last week after 6 years from filing. 6 year marriage. Went through 2 lawyers and 100k. Ex had a stroke one year into separation, then filed for permanent alimony. She refused to work before and especially after the stroke.

The good: judge found no permanent alimony and consistently called her out as being a louse for not even trying, imputed her some income as well.

The bad: she got 6 years of alimony from date of divorce (that's another 6 years on top of the 6 we've been divorcing) at a slightly reduced rate. Not to get too personal, but I make 150ish annually, I was paying her 4k a month before for years, now it's looking like 3300.

The ugly: she got the kids and the house for 6 years despite 1) her name never on the title and 2) me showing video of her dumping cleaning fluid on me and my daughter and walking away while my child cried

Upside: going to appeal hard because 1) there was never donative intent, 2) the judge took 9 months from trial date to issue a final decree during which I moved back to Florida (military) 3) he laced the entire document with remarks about her not having credibility but still gave her the kids, and 4) the law passed July 1st to limit alimony like this. 5) she's also now moving out of the house after demanding to keep it

Judge also screwed up the bank accounts, saying that my accounts were all marital even though they didn't exist until after filing. This is going to cause some pain in appeal as I was ordered to pay her 40k, which I don't even have now (had to buy a house when I moved to FL)

But I'm no longer married to her at least.
