I found it interesting that people don’t actually care when a man is suicidal or struggling mentally. All the platitudes before that about “men need to talk more” leave after about a week and then the ghosting starts. The remaining people will say things like “take care of yourself”, even when you’re begging for help. It’s actually really strange how if I’m really honest, very few women actually help. They’ll say the most words and sound the most compassionate via text, but only guys really showed up or picked me up.
I know this feels sexist, but except for a very few exceptions, the women in my life were suddenly absent when I went through it. Especially the one’s who talk the most about male mental health. It was a weird realisation.
