I'll act as a protector for random strangers because I'm a man when women start nurturing random strangers because they're women. If these women can't violently stop the guy because they're men and that's their role, why can't these women empathize with this guy and calm him down because they're women and that's their role?

The answer is because such expectations are practically ridiculous. If you're a woman with the means to defend a person when needed, you should do so. If you're a man who does not know if you have the means to defend a person when needed, you shouldn't feel guilty about that fact and realize that you're just human. If you're a man who can empathize with somebody and you have the means to nurture them, you should do so. And if you're a woman and you don't empathize with somebody and you don't have the means to nurture them, you shouldn't feel guilty about that fact and realize that you're just human.

I do not feel obliged to protect women anymore. Period. Especially not if it would endanger my life.

That doe not mean I would not help in all situations, but on case by case basis. And certainly not because someone has a vagina.

There are certain people I would risk my life for. But that is because I love them.

Why would a man ever put himself in danger to protect a woman in this society? This society that is so infested with feminist garbage that it treats them like shit, has no respect whatsoever for them, they constantly get screeched at about their male privilege, discriminated against, disrespected, treated like rapist in waiting etc.

The one thing that I agree with some of the replies you got there is that I also think that a "threat/warning to stop" made by a bystander man is probably going to be more effective than from a woman (especially if the man is bulky etc, and it's a fact that generally men are bulkier), as the sentiment of fear may be instilled to the assailant.

You kept saying

But you didn't bring / there is no data (?) to support that a man getting in the situation makes it worse (than a woman getting in the situation).

Still I completely agree that no man (bulky or not) should feel or made to feel coward for not engaging in such situations, and I agree there is a sexist double standard in society.

At this point I becomes about making sure that woman is alright by calling the police and making sure you're alright by getting the fuck out of there.

I hate this thought that "a oh of group of could have stopped him." Ok let's entertain this thought for a moment. I'll even entertain the unlikely notion that he's unarmed (I doubt it in fucking Texas but whatever). What if the assailant is built like Brock Lesnar or Aaron Donald? Orr generally a fit or big guy? A numbers advantage can only do so much. Oh police show and shoot the people trying to stop this guy.

Or what if you try to stop him and the dude with the weapon (you can literally kill someone with a brick) obviously comes out on top. All it takes it one good hit with the brick.

100 percent people should have called the police but why is her life more valuable than some dude's? He has family, friends, a pet, hopes, etc. Why do they suddenly not matter?

This is in no way comparable to Uvadale when TRAINED, ARMED, ARMORED POLICE, refused to do their jobs. These are literally regular people. This is in no way comparable to calling out a creepy dude at the club. This is people wanting men to confront an obviously mental person and risk their life. Ironically this reveals that many people in so called feminist circles gladly buy into the patriarchal lie that women need men to protect them and only men can protect women. It's fucking hilarious.

So my thoughts on this are about a broader issue, but the contents of this post are very relevant to it.

I've said this several times, but human societies, regardless of where in the world they are, are extremely entitled to male heroism, hardships and sacrifice.

Men are expected to be the first to fight, to protect and to provide. If our bodies or even lives must suffer and be extinguished as a result of providing that protection and provision, then so be it. There will always be another man to replace the lost one, the way a shark eternally regenerates its teeth.

I believe very strongly that this is one of the biggest examples of nature that became nurture. Male humans fight predators and members of other tribes and females are protected so that they can survive to fulfill their own role.

As we progressed into sapient beings, this mindset became codified into law, culture and ideology.

So, to keep it simple, I think the concept is something that predates humanity as we are now, and will never fully fade away.

It's why both feminists/progressives and more traditional types both cling to the idea that men need to protect women...although as I've also said, traditionalists are far more symbiotic about this while progressives tend towards unapologetic parasitism.

I personally think that the concept of having an obligation to protect women as a whole is an archaic one and that men should not follow it unless of course women want to start returning to their own traditional roles.

But everyone is free to follow their consciences, although those will of course be shaped by the traditions and moral beliefs one was raised with.

I will help people on situations where it’s safe for me to do so. But when people make it about gender and say things like “real men would help women”, I can’t help but roll my eyes. I’ve literally seen women say they wouldn’t help men because they could be trying to hurt women. Or maybe, men are human and need help to? We should all help each other when possible and safe. Maybe because they are. Not necessarily about protecting women, but wanting to protect physically weaker beings at least. It is fairly evolutionary beneficial. Protect kids, elderly, men, women, animals/pets...

Of course, it's largely hypocritical with their other beliefs when it comes to feminists in question, but I think this assumption comes largely from at least some common sense of understanding at least a bit of human nature.

That being said, instinct in humans can be and is easily overridden. You don't want to follow up on it? You don't have a moral obligation to risk your life, especially if it's someone who usually denigrates you.

I had my nose broken and my head nearly bashed against the sidewalk (always handy to at least take some minimal grappling classes - might save your life) for trying to protect a random woman years ago. It was dumb of me overall. Still I'm not sure if I really regret it. Would I repeat that? No idea. But I did feel that pull to try to help and make sure people were safe.

I find it interesting that a lot of feminists or nontraditional women have similar ideas of men protecting women with Andrew Tate.

Many of these feminists and women want men to keep and uphold some traditional aspects which benefits the woman (e.g. men pay on dates, protect the woman) while benefiting from modern equality.

This is something that further bothers me when you think about the fact that as you are a lower class socioeconomically, traditional gender roles get forced on you harder. So really, these people (ironic if it’s a progressive) are advocating for lower value men to throw themselves into the meatgrinder for the actual patriarchs that ironically women reward with their attention.

When women call for men to protect them, it doesn’t necessarily mean go out on the streets like vigilantes and beating rapists to a bloody pulp.

I think they want us to teach other men how to handle rejection, and change our culture of aggression and violence so women become less likely to encounter those situations in the first place.
