Honestly I think to the worst of the radfems, this will do nothing. Their response will probably be something like "awwww poor you, look at what women have to go through". Think of "misogyny kills, misandry irritates", they view misandry as a reaction to misogyny that is practically ineffectual. You have to play the game of identity and vulnerability, and try to introduce consideration of gender (men being effected by gendered expectations on them, not just men being effected indirectly by misogyny) to issues that they already accept, notably racism but also biphobia/homophobia. They will happily accept misogyny as aggravating factors, but will shrug off misandry and characterise it as racism/homophobia alone, even when gender roles play a part.

In the end, gender equality involves getting rid of benevolent misogyny, but that involves lowering society's view of women in some aspects, and that seems like a very uncomfortable thing to do. You're then no longer able to treat women as inherently more virtuous, inherently more caring, needing protection, etc. So you're "lifting women up", by pushing them down and trying to dissolve a culture which holds women in high regard and is protective over them. I don't think many people are a fan of this, and it's a difficult sell. The rebuke would be "you're just bitter that women are getting more rights", but really we're wanting to move to a world where each individual is a blank slate regardless of their race, gender, any immutable characteristic, so even benevolent prejudice (mainly including benevolent misogyny, to a lesser extent benevolent racism is a thing in the form of infantilization/bigotry of low expectations) has to go.

In a way you're right, it is the core business of the MRA; from affirmative action to family courts to women feeling uncomfortable being more important than men being lonely. But is it also a good 'selling point'? Ironically, the very fact of the empathy gap will make that it is ridiculed every time it comes up. It is great to help men understand why things are the way they are i.e. on this sub. But will it also work in the outside world?

Couldn't agree more. The vast majority of issues men face (legal and social) are a result of the empathy gap, in no small part due to the "men are dangerous" paradigm constantly reinforcing it.

Discrimination in hiring, discrimination by landlords, prison sentence gap, lack of help towards male victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, "guilty until proven innocent" court bias, the huge gap in suicide and violent crime victimization, to name a few.

All of these are a direct result of the empathy gap (and often of the "men are dangerous" mentality that reinforces it).
