Let's face it: everyone in politics manipulate statistics to further their own agenda. Conservatives, liberals, libertarians, socialists, evangelicals, everyone. It's just how things work.

But what I see from feminists isn't just the normal political games. It's transparent dishonesty, first expected in wider media by Christina Hoff Sommers: "Who stole feminism". I know she's a feminist herself, but while I don't agree with her on everything, she at least rejects the victimhood narrative.

Some examples:

One of the classics is the "Rule of Thumb" hoax: that men had a legal right to beat their wives so long as the stick was no thicker than your thumb. Its a fabrication but it's still being taught in gender studies courses. Wife beating has been illegal for centuries, although it certainly continued. Domestic violence has always been a problem, but the idea men had a right to beat their wives is nonsense.

In: "The Beauty Myth", Naomi Wolf claimed that 150,000 women died every year from Anorexia Nervosa. The actual number is a few hundred, a still tragic circumstance.

Patricia Ireland, former President of NOW, claimed that the number one cause of birth defects is domestic violence, citing a nonexistent March of Dimes study as evidence.

Or that domestic violence is worst on Super Bowl Sundays, with commercials urging men to "Stay calm" and not pummel their wives.

Lenora Weitzman's child support hoax, claiming that women's lives after divorce became worse, while men's lives improved. "on the average, divorced women and the minor children in their households experience a 73 percent decline in their standard of living in the first year after divorce. Their former husbands, in contrast, experience a 42 percent rise in their standard living"

After 11 years of stonewalling, she eventually admitted her figures were wrong, although still denied an intentional hoax. However, child support payments substantially increased throughout the country as a result of her work. In fact, it's very much the other way around when it comes to divorced men and women.

Or that the number one cause of injury to women is domestic violence, according to Katherine Hanson. Another claim is that violence is the leading cause of death among women.

So there are plenty of valid reasons to oppose feminism, and the trend is only getting worse. What was considered radical feminism 30-40 years now has become mainstream. I've only known a single feminist in my life that didn't believe the "rape culture" narrative.

I've heard the rebuke: Not All Feminists are Like That. I expect that's true. It's also irrelevant. The activist feminists, those who play a role who writing the laws and changing the culture, do.
